@trueLiberalist@zhoban90 To me at least, turning to technology to make split second safety decisions on the road is kinda like turning to government to set the prices of all foods and services.
It's just never going to be as capable as the human brain.
@trueLiberalist@zhoban90 Seems more trouble than it's worth.
Maybe instead of now building all vehicles for the worst case scenario we could build them assuming the driver is capable of paying attention?
@trueLiberalist@zhoban90 Seriously. And nobody wants to talk about how safety features like backup cams and lane assist lead to people paying less attention to the actual driving of their now much heavier tardmobile.
@zhoban90@trueLiberalist Same. Side and rearview mirrors don't require cabling, computers, etc and they're already there.
Truth is the bu cams have allowed evermore air bags and chunkier pillars, smaller windows that reduce visibility.
As if a 2010 Camry wasn't a safe vehicle without that shit.
Related: I wonder how many advertising accounts you can block before you get to the end of the ad rainbow and what that might look like. Maybe I'm already there.
@trueLiberalist Also kind of surprised they don't immediately pull you over when one of the cameras (internally facing I assume?) is blocked. Suppose that's next.
@notasabody I've used Linux exclusively since around 08 or so. Been using EndeavourOS for a few years now and haven't had an issue requiring getting into the nitty gritty in a long time. It's just worked.
@KappAdam79375 I'm simply suggesting that maybe departments start policing by being present where issues actually are instead of playing cleanup or revenue generator.
Crazy idea I know but I like to dream big.
If we're gonna have cops, maybe we should have some of them patrolling shopping areas on foot instead of on the median of a desolate stretch of highway at 11pm on a Tuesday or tucked away in a rando parking lot waiting for something to do.
Just because one uses services powered by already existing data centers doesn't mean they can't be opposed to this new mass build out of data centers set to power a technate surveillance state the CCP could only dream of.
@Kyriee222@kebabenseLSS@BilliardBastard@SonDayumn This entire premise is ridiculous. You wouldn't put a plow horse in a pen with no food. What fucking slave owners are trying to have their slaves starve? Slavery is bad enough you weirdos don't need to make shit up. Even still, you'd eat worms or grass not fucking dirt.
