Our development record in Butere Sub-County and Kakamega County in general, reflects the value of working closely with our people. Through their local knowledge and insights, our Community Area Council (CAC) members help identify community priorities, inform project implementation and strengthen monitoring and evaluation to ensure our resources deliver results.
We have inducted 760 CAC members at St. Luke’s ACK Cathedral in Marama Central ward today. They continue to play a vital role in ensuring local needs inform our decisions and development reaches every corner of Kakamega.
I joined the family of my friend, Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police Lazarus Simiyu Opicho, at their home in Kitale, to mourn his passing, accompanied by First Lady Prof. Janet Kassilly Barasa.
He served our nation with distinction, including as head of the Security of Government Buildings (SGB) and the VIP Protection Unit under the Administration Police Service. His passing is a great loss to the country, which benefited from his experience and dedicated service.
As his family prepares to lay him to rest tomorrow, I extend my heartfelt condolences to them, his friends and colleagues. I pray that God grants them strength and comfort during this time. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Today, we honour the memory of the Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, a patriot whose courage and sacrifice helped shape Kenya’s democratic journey. His legacy lives on in the freedoms he fought for and the generations he inspired. Rest in peace, Baba. Your spirit lives on.
We unveiled the new Tombo ECDE Centre in Manda-Shivanga Ward, Malava Sub-County, opening the facility's doors to our youngest learners. The facility features two classrooms, a kitchen, stores, an office, a water tank and sanitation facilities. It is one of our 62 ECDE centres delivered in the 6O wards.
This is part of our wider development record, guided by the six pillars of our agenda that is focused on improving lives of the people of Kakamega County, across all sectors.
I am honoured to have been re-elected for the fifth consecutive term as Chair of the Council of Governors’ Committee on Finance, Planning and Economic Affairs. Congratulations to H.E. Governor Muthomi Njuki on his election as Chair of the Council of Governors. I look forward to working with him and my colleagues in advancing our shared mandate and delivering better outcomes for the people we serve.
