Bad coaches talk too much and too loudly.
Yelling and talking more than actually teaching.
Great coaches have the ability to communicate something complex and make it simple in less words and lower volumes so that the athletes can understand and apply it.
All incoming freshmen and sophomore transfers looking to compete and play baseball at Valley College in 2027 need to enroll in the above class (section#)to be able to workout with us in the summer @LAVCAthletics
Tuesday Thoughts
Don’t lower your standards personally, professionally, or mentally. It seems all too easy to just go along or settle. Better those around you as you continue to better yourself. You deserve it, and they might need it.
Composing Your New Year Email to College Coaches 📨🥎
A new year is the perfect time to reset, refocus, and re-introduce yourself to college coaches.
If you’re going through the recruiting process, a well-written New Year email isn’t just a greeting — it’s a strategic touchpoint.
Here’s how to approach it the right way 👇
1️⃣ Keep it short and professional
Coaches are busy. Respect their time. One clean, thoughtful email goes a long way.
2️⃣ Reintroduce yourself clearly
Include:
•Grad year
•Position(s)
•Travel/high school team
•GPA
•Link to your skills or highlight video
Assume they don’t remember every detail — help them help you.
3️⃣ Share what’s new
This is the value of the New Year email:
•Physical development or new metrics
•Fall/Winter training progress
•Academic updates
•Upcoming schedule, camps, or events
Progress matters.
4️⃣ Show genuine interest (not desperation)
One sentence about why their program is on your list is enough. Be specific. Be real.
5️⃣ End with purpose
Close with a clear but respectful line:
•“I’d love to stay on your radar this spring.”
•“I look forward to updating you as my season approaches.”
No pressure. Just professionalism.
✨ Remember: recruiting isn’t about one email — it’s about consistent, thoughtful communication over time.
Excited to be heading back to the West Coast and be involved with the @LAVC_Softball Prospect Camp and some great visiting coaches in December! https://t.co/4OlblzRGjU
3.7 GPA. Kris is a stud still looking for a home. She’s a bulldog on the mound with 5 different pitches. Very coachable and great team player. DM if you’re looking for a RHP. @CSUDHsoftball@StanStateSB@csusSoftball
