@SkolBros People who have a working relationship can disagree on work without hating each other. It was purely a monetary issue. Blame the Pohlad family - not Rocco.
Polanco and Kepler have the most value in relation to their contracts. So if we want to pull in a playoff caliber starter for next year - we may have to do away Polanco and/or Kepler. Unfortunate reality.

Sad to see. But does this surprise anyone? With the payroll cuts we already knew Gray wasn't going to return. Even before the payroll cuts it was unlikely that the Twins shelled out 3/$75M to an aging starter. With Kenta Maeda's Tiger signing yesterday --
It seems hard to imagine a world where Jorge Polanco and Max Kepler are both wearing Twins uniforms next year. With the aforementioned payroll cuts, it doesn't look like the Gray and Maeda replacements are coming from the Free Agent market. So what does that leave us? Trades.
Twins would likely call up the Catcher from Saint Paul to do a split with Jeffers as Baldelli is adamant about having our catchers platoon. A move everyone should have expected as their isn't much of a market for 8-figure per-year backup catchers.
Catcher Outlook Thread:
After a breakout season by a 26 year-old Ryan Jeffers, does it come as a surprise to anyone that Twins are interested in unloading the 2/$20M remaining contract of an aging backup catcher?
It is reported that the Twins are aggressively shopping Vazquez, and I would be surprised to see him go in a solo deal. It's much more likely that if he is to depart via trade, that a few younger more lucrative pieces go with him to try and reel in an arm to replace Sonny Gray.
