Adam gave up college to stay beside his mother. He never told her why. Then a woman who looks exactly like Beth — twenty years older — steps out of thin air and hands him a watch, a list of names, and one rule: fix the timeline by giving those women a child. The last name on the list is the woman sleeping down the hall. What begins as secret missions becomes the life they were always going to live.

Stranded on a remote tropical island after a devastating plane crash, Claire Reed and her 17-year-old son Ethan must confront the ultimate test of survival—and desire.
What begins as a dream family vacation in the Maldives turns into a nightmare when their small charter plane goes down over the Indian Ocean. With her husband Mark lost at sea, Claire—a poised, beautiful 37-year-old physician—and Ethan are forced into a raw, unforgiving paradise. Clothes dissolve in the salt and sun. Privacy vanishes. Every glance, every touch, every shared moment of vulnerability ignites forbidden sparks they can no longer ignore.
As days stretch into weeks, grief, isolation, and primal need erode the boundaries between mother and son. Claire’s full, natural curves and quiet strength become both comfort and temptation. Ethan’s youthful energy and protective instincts awaken something deeper, more intense than either could have imagined. In the absence of society’s rules, their bond evolves from desperate survival into passionate, all-consuming intimacy.

Ethan Brooks is nineteen, tall enough to own a basketball court, still soft enough to flinch when his mother leans into him outside the ER. Ava is thirty-eight, beauty that turns heads even when her eyes are red, a widow who has already done the math the state will force them to face. When the doctor says we tried our best, something in both of them breaks—and something quieter, hungrier, starts listening for what comes after.
Harbor City does not pretend. A century after birth rates collapsed, the law turned women into leaseholds and ledgers. Men do not marry mothers so much as hold contracts. Children of a lease belong to the state. Active terms pass to the adult male heir. Ava has three years and change left on the term Ethan’s father signed long ago. Fingerprint. File update. Collar transfer. Master: Ethan. Slave: Ava.
On the walk home, silence does the talking. She knows the role the city has written for her. He knows the word he is not supposed to want. Between them is a doorway, a lock, and the first real choice either of them has made since the coffin closed: not whether the law allows it—because the law smiles and stamps the paper—but whether they will stop lying about the way they look at each other when no one else is in the room.
From that first kneeling service to house rules that leave her ready at a glance, from birthday dinners that pretend to be dates to public heat that leaves her wet under ordinary clothes, their story is not a single night of taboo. It is a life rearranging itself around a collar and a secret name. Best friends who envy. Classrooms that feel too small. Cosplay that turns costume into confession. Blackmail that teaches Ethan what exclusive really means. Midnights that sound like rain and skin. A New Year’s sky that opens in fireworks while mother and son finish what the registry began.
She still packs his mornings. He still calls her Mom.
And when the door shuts, she calls him Master—and means both.
