College graduation speeches are often evergreen. They can be given at any time, similar from decade to decade.
Which is why Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker’s “How To Spot An Idiot” at Northwestern’s graduation is so genius.
It is the speech for TODAY
.@AbDanielleSmith the landing on Normandy beach did not “mark the beginning of the Second World War”.
We did not invade Europe and began the war.
WW2 did not start 79 years ago, on June 6, 1944. It started on September 1 1939.
I’m worried about the Alberta curriculum.

To Undecided Voters:
You have 6 days to read and do your own research.
Please don’t use ads as your truth checker. There are plenty of newspaper articles you can look up.
As you reflect on the years that the NDP were in power, don’t forget the recession and low oil prices. In four years, the NDP had access to less royalties than the UCP has had in one year.
Read articles that mention how the NDP built many schools and had the highest employment percentage across Canada (leading up to the last election). Remember, jobs were lost across Canada, throughout the recession. And the plummeting oil prices was the real culprit of oil and gas jobs that were lost.
As you reflect on the last 4 years, there are plenty of articles that will tell you that UCP dropping corporate taxes and hiking up personal taxes, didn’t actually create jobs.
UCP efforts to balance the budget, involved making deep cuts to health care and education and secretly de-indexing personal income taxes, while they were willing to pay $20B to have companies clean up oil wells.
Weigh out whether you feel safe electing a party that is being run by a fascist group (TBA). As you balance campaign promises; include recordings of Danielle Smith, the things she lobbied for, and essays she wrote etc. Consider Smith’s Sovereignty Act, her original ideas to privatize health care, her original idea to get rid of CPP and create an Alberta Pension plan, her original idea of getting rid of RCMP, her rewriting of Indigenous history in Canada, her Nazi references to vaccinated individuals, her support for fringe ideas, and how she has fought to protect people that broke Covid laws.
Please realize that UCP campaign promises might not mean anything, if the TBA controls what they want.
Look up information on candidates and MLAs running in the election. Consider whether you want to support the UCP, when they are keeping individuals that have made racist and discriminatory comments about others. Consider whether you want to elect a party that sends an unaccepting message to many Albertans.
Please consider lending your vote to the NDP. Consider voting for the consistent campaign promises of the Alberta NDP.
"Anyone who believes a provincial police force and pension plan are not on the ballot is fooling themselves."
Danielle Smith's plan is clear: avoid talking about her plot to hijack your pension until after the election—and THEN spring it on Albertans. https://t.co/9GlQQcuuOK
You can dislike NDP.
Yet what has UCP done the past 4 years to prove they are better for Albertans?
Kindly elaborate what has you still voting UCP

Alberta is a place where our
✅: Premier is GUILTY of attempting to politically interfere
✅ Deputy Premier is GUILTY of attempting to politically interfere
✅ Justice Minister is facing 3 charges of unprofessional conduct by the Law Society
How is ANY of this okay?
Alberta’s ethics commissioner has determined that Danielle Smith contravened the Conficts of Interest Act regarding Artur Pawlowski.
Read the entire 17-page report here:

Oh, an education question, well done Ray from Calgary. Smith wants to restore stability, more on education spending yet Alberta needed to add 1.2 billion to the budget THIS YEAR to make funding on par with the Canadian average. The increase to funding this year was not even close
In a Wild Card Question During The Debate:
Both leaders of the NDP and UCP were asked to talk about something they admired about the other party’s choices or decisions over the last 4 years.
Notley graciously brought up two points about the UCP.
Smith blasted her own horn and then took a dig at the NDP.
Newsflash Smith, you made yourself look worse.
My number one rule of politics is “citizens aren’t stupid”. This kind of spin when you’ve been found guilty of an ethics violation, instead of an apology and a promise to do better, is something citizens will see right through.
No matter how heated, I don’t believe I’ve ever called the people I seek to serve a bunch of Nazi’s.
Or thought of them that way.
OR REFUSED TO WEAR A POPPY.
I would never ever ever be able to walk that kind of nonsense back, nor should anyone ever be able to.
We have issued the following statement regarding an inaccurate letter of complaint sent to Elections Alberta by the UCP’s executive director. #abed#ableg
