"If that means being a communist, call me a communist then. I want all of our people to be treated equal."
In Twin Cities, we spoke with Alissa Washington with the Wrongfully Incarcerated and Over-Sentenced Families Council-MN about communism and the pitfalls of the two-party system.
Under the capitalist two-party system, we are told candidates like Amy Klobuchar are the best we can hope for as a governor. But there are other options! We can build an independent people's movement outside the two-party system that fights for what the people actually need. A socialist system!
“The people need to be at this game, and it’s turned into a luxury event.”
Trump is in New York City for Game 3 of the NBA Finals, and the area around Madison Square Garden where fans would normally watch the game is on security lockdown.
BT talked to Knicks fans who had a message for the president: “Stay in DC, bro.”
🚨New statement from the Vote Socialist California slate, written by @ramsey4gov:
"I’m Ramsey Robinson, a mental health social worker from Bayview, and I ran for governor to say out loud what the billionaire class spends millions to keep you from believing: the 194 billionaires who hoard $1.2 trillion in this state didn’t build that wealth. We did. And we can take it back."

Community members gathered in Columbia, SC to demand justice for Cyrus Carmack-Belton following the unjust acquittal of the store owner who killed him in a horrific act of racist vigilante violence.
Speakers condemned the verdict and the racist legal system that continues to shield perpetrators while denying justice to victims.
The fight for justice for Cyrus is far from over. We stand with his family and the Midlands community as we seek justice and work to build a new system that puts people before profit and is free from racist violence.
The Knicks haven't been to the NBA Finals since 1999 — when average rent in NY for a one-bedroom was $791/month.
@RaniaKhalek spoke to Knicks fans at Madison Square Garden Friday about NYC's cost-of-living crisis.
Their message for Trump, who's coming Monday to watch the Finals? "F**k you!"
🌈Pride month is an act of defiance against the right wing bigots who want to turn back the clock and impose their stifling vision on all of society. It’s a chance to show that the LGBTQ community will never accept the elimination of the rights that so many millions of people have fought for.
Last year, there were at least 616 anti-LGBTQ laws proposed across the country, especially targeting trans youth. And the hateful rhetoric from politicians is only getting worse and worse.
This is no accident. Working people are facing so many problems – the spiraling cost of essentials like food or rent, the threat of war, impending large-scale job losses from the capitalist introduction of AI, and more. The bigoted politicians want to misdirect people’s anger away from the billionaires and corporations that are responsible for these problems, and instead make the ludicrous argument that LGBTQ people are the source of all of society’s problems because of a breakdown in the “traditional family”.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. As long as society is divided into a class of exploiters and exploited, oppressors and oppressed, there will always be bigotry of all types promoted by the people in power. Solidarity, inclusion, and respect are the opposite of what this system of rule by the billionaire class is all about. Socialism means removing the billionaire class from power and replacing it with the rule of the people.
This Pride month is an opportunity to take to the streets and show that we will not go back – and that we will fight for a whole new system based on equality instead of division!

Trump & Rubio are laying the groundwork for more aggression by adding Cuba’s President Miguel Diaz-Canel, his family & Cuban institutions to a US sanctions list. It’s a desperate attempt to justify their plans for an unprovoked attack. No to war on Cuba!
My latest in the Morning Star.
“Rosa Luxemburg coined the phrase ‘socialism or barbarism’ in 1916, in the middle of the first world war, as a general statement about humanity’s choices. In the Caribbean in 2026, it is a concrete question on the table.
“Cuba has stood for 67 years as a beacon of hope for the oppressed and exploited around the world. It has been a source of inspiration for generations of activists, a symbol of resistance against imperialism, a model of what a different kind of society can look like.
“The whole world must stand with Cuba now, in its hour of need. We must demand an end to the blockade, an end to sanctions, an end to threats. We must support Cuba’s right to self-determination, to sovereignty, and to development on its own terms.”

Ready to fight for socialism beyond the ballot box?
Watch the full "next steps" webinar discussion with Vote Socialist California candidates Meghann Adams, Lalo Vargas, Frank Lara and Ramsey Robinson ➡️ https://t.co/mCTakye7hA
The ballot box isn’t the destination of the movement for socialism. To stop Trump and the billionaires' attempts at consolidating power in the far-right, working people need a vehicle to fight beyond elections. Our Vote Socialist candidates are running to build that independent socialist movement that can win power for working people in California. But it will take all of us to make it happen!
On June 3, 2026, the day after the June primaries in California, four socialist candidates from the PSL talk about growing the independent socialist movement. They discuss and answer questions on what comes next in the fight for socialism!
Working class mother, fighter, educator and 2024 socialist presidential candidate Claudia De la Cruz joined this weekend's Texas-wide day of action against Governor Greg Abbott in San Antonio with a clear message: immigrants are welcome here, and it's up to the people to lead the movement to ensure it!
The expansion of ICE, detention centers and deportations have received bipartisan support, from Democrats and Republicans alike. But we must remember that our progress has only ever fundamentally come from social movements; that career politicians have never been the leaders of our fights for change.
The future of Texas lies not with Greg Abbott and his unpopular, racist, anti-immigrant agenda – but with the working class people who dare to get organized and fight!
Why aren't we running as a Democrat? Because we're not Dems– we're socialists.

Dublin protesters rallied outside Arnotts department store on Saturday, demanding justice for Yves Sakila.
Sakila was a 35-year-old Congolese man killed by security guards in front of the store May 15, after they pinned him down over an alleged shoplifting incident.
Sakila has drawn comparisons to George Floyd, the Minneapolis man killed by a white officer in 2020, whose death ignited a U.S. uprising against police brutality
Tennessee is at the center of far-right assault on Black voting rights.
How can we fight back to not only protect, but expand, these democratic rights?
