During a campaign speech at the University of Central Florida on 5 February 2026, Republican gubernatorial candidate James Fishback declared he would not visit Israel under any circumstances, nor "kiss the stupid wall," in reference to the tradition of US politicians visiting the Western Wall. He called it a “career loyalty test,” and argued such trips do not benefit Floridians.

Instead, he said he would prioritize a trade mission to Brazil, Florida’s top trading partner, within his first 100 days in office to create 5,000 jobs.

Fishback also pledged to divest all $385 million in Florida-held Israel Bonds on his first day in office and redirect the funds into a domestic housing assistance program called “Rise and Shine,” which would provide $10,000 grants for married Florida couples.

He further attacked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him a “corrupt war criminal” and stating Netanyahu would not be welcome in Florida under his administration. The remarks drew condemnation from Jewish organizations and political leaders, who described the rhetoric as "antisemitic" and dismissive of a holy site.
