@duncedynamics@NightSkyToday Yup that’s the ego at work not necessarily consciousness. You can’t stop thoughts from arising but you can train the mind to recognize them as thoughts rather than identify with them, my experience at least from Sam Harris, Loch Kelly nonduality meditation teachings in general
What if meditation began as a human survival skill?
A 2026 paper by David Black and Phil Reed, Defensive Freezing and the Evolutionary Origins of Meditation in Humans, proposes that meditation may have roots in an ancient survival response involving stillness,
heightened vigilance and narrowed attention. The authors suggest this could have provided an evolutionary substrate that was later culturally developed into meditation practices. They explicitly place their hypothesis in the late Paleolithic, roughly 150,000–200,000 years ago.
Meditation is putting your ego on a fast. Not killing it… just not feeding the illusion that it's solid. What's left, when you stop feeding it, is awareness. That was always there.
that we are all connected, whether you are aware of it or not. Perhaps awakening is simply the recognition of what has always been true: there is no separation.

There is no space within me—not even the space between two atoms—where doubt could arise about the existence of God, the Divine, the One.
Take comfort in knowing…
@0xQuasark That’s a good question that I’m choosing to hold for myself, as my first experience is still very fresh. But I will share that discovering Sam Harris’s Waking Up meditation has been just as profound for me in helping me incorporate what my trip showed me.
If you make room inside yourself to be the person you want to be, and live trying to leave the world and the people in your life better off than when they met you … prosperity will find you without you having to ask.
