A beautiful #AshWednesday story from Msgr. James Shea:
"A couple of years ago, I was on a flight on Ash Wednesday, and the stewardess came back to me and knelt down in the aisle where I was sitting, and she began to cry.
She said, 'I wasn't able to go to mass today on Ash Wednesday because I'm working morning till night, Father. Would you happen to have any ashes?' I couldn't believe it.
I had a little vial of ashes in the overhead compartment up on top, and I'm not like Father Boy Scout, I'm not usually prepared in that way, but I had some ashes, and so I said yes, I do, and I took them down, and I imposed ashes upon her while she knelt there.
By the end of the flight, the two other stewardesses, one of the pilots, and more than half of the plane had followed her and had knelt down in the aisle to receive ashes. This is the hope with which we live, and it's latent in people, it only needs to be activated by our witness."
I urge you to continue your apostolate with joy and to be a sign of a love that embraces everyone, as the #GospelOfTheDay suggests. May we transform evil into goodness and build a fraternal world. Do not be afraid to take risks for love!
The love we receive from the Lord is the force that transforms our lives and enables us to love. We are able to love only because He has loved us, because He pours His own Spirit of holiness into our hearts. His Love heals and transforms us.
Loving is the greatest gift. We receive it when we make room for the Lord in prayer, when we welcome Him in His transforming Word and in the humility of His broken Bread. #YearOfPrayer
Accumulating material goods is not enough to live well, because life does not depend on what we possess (cf. Lk 12:15). Life depends on good relationships: with God, with others, and also with those who have less. #GeneralAudience
#Holiness is a gift from God which we have received with Baptism: if we let it grow, it can completely change our life, enlightening it with the joy of the Gospel. Holiness is a gift offered to everyone for a happy life. #AllSaints
@TopDogLaw Has it been considered that the Tesla accident avoidance system engaged. The driver could do nothing but allow the car to stop. Had the Accord been so equipped there would not have been an accident.
Today the power of Easter calls you to roll away every stone of disappointment and mistrust. The Lord is an expert in rolling back the stones of sin and fear. He wants to illuminate your sacred memory, your most beautiful memory, to make you relive your first encounter with him.
Jesus, the Living One, is with us, forever. Let the Church and the world rejoice, for today our hopes no longer come up against the wall of death, for the Lord has built us a bridge to life.
We are sinners and in need of mercy like the air we breathe. Willingness to convert - to allow ourselves to be purified, to change our lives - is a sign of courage, of strength. #Lent
Is your faith tired? Do you want to reinvigorate it? Look for God’s gaze: sit in adoration, allow yourself to be forgiven in Confession, stand before the Crucified One. In short, let him love you. #Lent
This is a video from my pal @cbtbaldwin - of the beginnings of the #asburyrevival this week as lives are being touched and transformed down in Kentucky… it’s been going for over 100 hours now.🔥🙏🙌🏽
There is no Christianity without community, just as there is no peace without fraternity. Let us believe in community and, with God’s help, build a Church free of the worldly spirit and full of the Holy Spirit, ree from the personal hoarding of riches and filled with brotherly love!
The #WordOfGod heals and raises up. It is destined for everyone. Jesus wants to reach those far away. He wants to heal the sick, to save sinners, to gather the lost sheep and lift up those whose hearts are weary and oppressed. God’s mercy is for everyone.
The widespread presence of the He Gets Us campaign is sparking a national dialogue—one that all believers can take part in by talking about the ads with their friends, family members, and coworkers.
The best part? This is just the beginning.

Just as the burls that beautify a redwood trunk are really cancers the tree has had to deal with, so the bruises, breaks and badness of life can form the most magnetic features and beauteous spots of our life.
