Before playing we can talk about expectations & what type of game you'd like to play. We won't do a big campaign, but a 1-shot, something manageable in 1 or 2 sessions at most.

If you can get a group of 3 - 5 people together to learn/play I'd be happy to teach the basics (can run a game online). There's a little preparation involved but depends on if you want the character creation experience or just opportunity to play.

@Craig_Sybert 5. Don’t try to DM like anyone else. Be you & help tell the story you & your players find fun. Do they like description? Use it. Do they want to use imagination or things spelled out? Do they want to role play or just fight? This is a shared creation, balance it for you & them.

@Craig_Sybert You do have to keep things moving. If you’re spending too much time on a rule, it’s okay to make a call. You can adjust later. 4. Teach your players that you expect them to be invested in learning. They also don’t have to know all, but should be willing to learn & study a bit.

@malbatron Interesting idea. I need to find a good list of things. I like the limit of it can be still cool to get, but not change the course of everything. There’s the issues of the party to tracking uses- but that’s doable.

My players LOVE treasure & items... But it might be the thing I like the least abt being a #DM. It feels like the thing that can throw chaos to the game if I give too much... I struggle to find the balance & not have it taken up large chunks of my time. Suggestions? #DnD

I ended my first campaign as a DM today. My group played for 2-yrs, 1 hr a week @ a time during work lunch. We ended at a break in the story. These characters have lives & adventures still, but this is the 1st character most of the party had ever played. #DnD
