Yes! The more I’m reading about this, I’m getting the same vibes. If these things are true a person with these traits is going to tell everyone “I was trying to help her because she was crazy, mentally ill etc”. Classic words of a highly manipulative and controlling abuser (malignant narcissist).

Ahh. Many years of being in this type of relationship with someone can definitely cause a person to have signs of “being crazy”. If he’s a PI and ex law enforcement she probably knew if she tried to report any abuse it would only make it worse. He would just say “she’s crazy, I’ve been trying to help her etc.”
