The RSA welcome new regulations signed by the Minister for Transport to address repeated learner-permit renewals. Changes will not come into effect until 1 November 2026, providing a 12-month lead-in period for everyone affected. https://t.co/QJxHAwHeCx
The plan to make sitting a driving test compulsory before renewal from 3rd learner permit is still in drafting stages.

The Government has officially unveiled Phase 2 of the Road Safety Strategy, covering the years 2025–2027. Unlike the more structured Phase 1 (2021–2024), this phase has dropped specific timelines for completing actions.
