BIG WIN 🚨⚖️ THE CONSTITUTION STANDS TALL
The High Court has declared the creation of offices for 21 advisers to the President unconstitutional 🎉
The Court faulted both the process used to establish the positions and the appointments of the office holders. Accountability: restored
👇🏽
In March 2023, @katibainstitute, together with TISA and other civil society organisations, publicly raised the alarm through a press statement warning that these offices were unconstitutional.Three years later, the courts have spoken. And the Constitution has won. 📜⚖️
Huge respect to @katibainstitute for seeing this through 👏🏽
The Court was clear that these adviser roles created:
“a clear risk of duplication within the existing advisory functions of the slew of Constitutional, Statutory and internal offices that the Head of State and Government could and should draw advice from. This duplication wastes precious and scarce public funds…”
Translation? ❌ bloated government, ❌ parallel power centres, ❌ wasting our money.
Now the real question Kenyans are asking: will the public money already spent be refunded? What next?
Today is a win for constitutionalism, accountability, and people-first governance. #Unconstitutional!

There are benefits that come with MEL system. “M” requires us to be strategic in data collection to address justice system reform agenda. “E” demands for evaluation of the justice outcomes, the systems that we use and data quality. International Justice Mission representative.
Raila Odinga was a true champion of democracy. A child of independence, he endured decades of struggle and sacrifice for the broader cause of freedom and self-governance in Kenya. Time and again, I personally saw him put the interests of his country ahead of his own ambitions. Like few other leaders anywhere, he was willing to choose the path of peaceful reconciliation without compromising his core values. Through his life, Raila Odinga set an example not just for Kenyans, but across Africa and around the world. I know he will be missed. Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to his family and to the people of Kenya.

Legal Petition Filed Against the VAT Special Table –
A constitutional petition (HCCOMMPET-E013-2025) has been filed challenging the Kenya Revenue Authority’s (KRA) implementation of the controversial “VAT Special Table”.
The petition seeks urgent judicial intervention to suspend and review this administrative action, which tax professionals argue is opaque, unlawful, and unconstitutional.
Petitioners:
CPA Peter Opiyo, CPA Peter Gacheru, and CPA Denis Nyambati- tax agents acting on behalf of affected taxpayers.
Interested Parties:
-ICPAK and the Law Society of Kenya —
Key Highlights from the Petition:
-The VAT Special Table is allegedly enforced without legal backing, public participation, or transparency, violating taxpayer rights.
-Affected businesses have been denied the right to generate tax invoices and claim input VAT — core rights under Sections 5 and 17 of the VAT Act.
-The process mimics constructive deregistration of VAT PINs, without due process or notice, contrary to Section 10 and 12 of the Tax Procedures Act, 2015.
-Petitioners argue that no statutory provision empowers KRA to suspend, deactivate, or restrict VAT PINs under this so-called “Special Table” framework.
-The case raises serious constitutional concerns including violations of the right to fair administrative action and fair hearing under Article 47 of the Constitution.
The petition seeks:
-Immediate suspension of the VAT Special Table pending full determination of the case.
-Inclusion of other affected taxpayers as petitioners or interested parties.
-A review of KRA’s powers and procedures under relevant tax laws.
A certificate of urgency has been filed for this case ! Let it rain .

H.E Dr. Fancy TOO received a courtesy call from Mr. Charles Kwemoi, newly appointed OHCHR 🇰🇪Country Representative. Discussions centred on leveraging the support of the OHCHR in order to strengthen 🇰🇪 human rights architecture.
I remember 2 years ago, I was in Nairobi hanging out at Westgate Mall with a friend, and he told me something that expanded my mind.
He said when he was growing up in Kibera (urban slum in Nairobi) in the 90s, he used to see lots of NGOs setting up shop there, focused on things like providing clean water to residents of Kibera. 30 years later, he said, those same NGOs are still in Kibera collecting donor funds to "provide clean water to residents of Kibera."
So either 30 years was not enough time to use the donor money to build basic water treatment and piping infrastructure for Kibera, or those NGOs want Kibera to remain exactly the way it is forever and ever- because African poverty is big business for them.
And then he gestured toward the several muzungus seated around us at Artcaffé, many of whom had their branded NGO t-shirts on and he said, "This is how they live after taking pictures in Kibera for their donors. Meanwhile the people in Kibera have never even been to Westgate Mall."
We think we're the customers, but we're actually the product.
Lakini the Kenyan government ran an abduction ring, murdered innocent protesters and blatantly abused human rights and they expected the African nations to trust them with the whole continent? Komedy at best😂😂
LET'S TALK ABOUT KEMI BADENOCH
In a speech at Michigan State University on 24 January 1963, revolutionary and civil-rights activist Malcom X (1925-65) drew a distinction between field and house N*groes. He called the latter the “twentieth-century Uncle Tom.”
Over six decades later, the distinction is still worth drawing. Every generation produces a new version of the house N*gro. They are the ones willing to betray the fight against imperialism to do their masters’ bidding for financial reward and privileges.
The new leader of the UK’s opposition Conservative Party - Kemi 'Adegoke' Badenoch - fits the bill perfectly. Our sister Sannario explains why.
