Joseph Woll says he was playing hockey cards when he got the trade call and admits he was emotional and sad upon first hearing the news, as heโs been with the Leafs for such a long time (drafted by the organization).
โIt was a lot of emotion. I spent a long time in Toronto, so I was pretty sad to hear the news.โ

On this day exactly 10 years ago, Auston Matthews was selected first overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2016 NHL Draft.
A decade later, he holds the franchise record for goals, and exactly 3,654 days after drafting Matthews in the very same arena in Buffalo, the Maple Leafs will make the first selection of the 2026 NHL Draft. ๐

Simon Benoit will wear 44, he previously wore 2.

Jake McCabe the latest d-man to generate interest, but he hasnโt been asked to waive his NMC.
Lots of moving parts on the blue line. ๐

As @DarrenDreger reported last hour, Toronto has a few irons in the fire and are working the trade lines. Jake McCabe has generated interest, but he has a full NTC and at this hour has not been asked to waive it. Morgan Rielly & Brandon Carlo are among the Leafs Dmen out there.
Morgan Riellyโs agent J.P Barry has submitted a list of 4 Western based teams Rielly is willing to go to. This will be a team by team assessment and depending on the fit, there could be some flexibility to add teams to the list.

Gavin McKenna isnโt officially a Maple Leaf yet, but the kid just gets it. The pressure, the expectations, but also the privilege that comes with wearing the blue and white leaf.
โIt would be super cool (getting drafted by the Maple Leafs) being a Canadian kid in one of the biggest hockey markets in the world. Obviously, if youโre not playing well there, youโll hear about it, but if you win a Cup there, youโre doing good. Itโs probably one of the best spots to be.โ

๐จ Leafs defenceman Brandon Carloโs name has emerged in trade talks with other teams, per @reporterchris.
With Darren Raddysh now a Leaf and Chris Tanev expected to be healthy next season, minutes on the right side of the blue line could be hard to come by.
โThe ask at this point in time for Carlo is multiple mid-range picks from the Leafs.โ

Joseph Woll says goodbye to Toronto via IG ๐ญ๐
โFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you to the organization, the city, my friends, and especially my teammates for helping make my time in Toronto so special.
I have enough memories to last a lifetime. Iโll forever be proud and grateful for my time with the Leafs.โ
