@mackenzienola16 It is awful that indigenous women face these issues. An estimated 4,000 indigenous women in Canada have been murdered or gone missing since 1980, making them 6x more likely to be murdered than non indigenous women. These facts are hard to hear but they need to be told. #gndr1000

@SoUlkit725 Thanks for sharing this informative video! It was Interesting to learn that 75% of unpaid care work is done by women, and men only account for 25%. It’s also crazy that If valued, unpaid care work in Switzerland is almost equivalent to the banking and insurance industry.#gndr1000

@AllyBenson6 Prior to reading the article I was unaware that some women experienced sexism from physicians. It is disheartening that this women went through the experience she did, and to think about the many other people who may go through similar situations. #gndr1000

@lundrigan_kayla I definitely agree that women are too over sexualized in ads. It portrays the idea that we need a specific body in order for men to be attracted to us. If everybody based their self love off other peoples opinions no one would ever be happy. #gndr1000

25-36% of people who suffer from eating disorders are men, yet only 10% of people who seek treatment are men. Body image issues are something both genders deal with and It should never been seen as weak or “unmasculine” to seek help, it takes courage to reach out. #gndr1000

Watching the CBC special “Being Black in Canada” made me wonder why the education system teaches so little about black history in Canada. It is such an important part of Canadas history and If we do not learn about our past we will never improve from it. #gndr1000

@AllyBenson6 I enjoyed reading these poems! With a topic such as sexuality it’s sometimes more enlightening to look at an art form rather than reading definitions. This certainly helped further my understanding of the topic. The poem “toxic thoughts” grabbed my attention. #gndr1000

@AllyBenson6 It‘s terrible that transgender women of colour are being treated so poorly. To hear that 18 individuals were killed this year due to their race and gender identity is appalling. People should not have to live in fear of being murdered because of who they are. #gndr1000

I researched some of the topics covered in week 4 and discover that New York is repealing their ban on gay conversion therapy. It was interesting to discover they are doing this in an attempt to avoid the law from appearing in the Supreme Court #gndr1000

After learning about intersex in #gndr1000 I was curious about the way intersex people are treated in sports. I found this interesting article about a new rule in track and field which forces intersex athletes to take hormone suppressing drugs.
