@teacher2teacher I’ve only had one PD ever that modeled and gave us practice with actual students. Of course teachers can “be the student” but it doesn’t give a realistic picture of the timing, delivery & practice with scholars.
@GiftedTawk “Magic Trash” if you offer a ‘reward’ for magic trash there won’t be a speck left behind. Maybe call it something different. I give out jolly ranchers or a piece of gum- small price to pay for a clean floor. 💜
Playing Uno with 1 of my scholars at lunch recess today. As he wins his 2nd game he tells me he’s been practicing on his sister’s phone before bed each night - All just to beat me! This might be my favorite moment this year. #WhyITeach#BetterTogetherWPS
@GiftedTawk My 2nd graders were shocked this week when I opened my cupboard doors and they got a look at my “teacher books” 💜 “You mean you have to read all of those?” And 1 little voice whispers “whoa! And you still don’t know everything?” 👀🤔😂
@ksluiter I’m feeling this on so many levels. My scholars are babes (2nd grade) and they only -hopefully- do this year once, and that is a heavy load on my heart.
@erinhahn_author I went back to school at 47- to move from preschool to elementary education. Got hired for new gig at 52. I run anywhere from 2-4 miles 3-5 times a week. I feel younger every day. I will run a 5K this Sunday- 1 day before my 59th birthday. Life just gets better! #grateful
Representation matters. I want each scholar to see themselves as Mathematicians. Some books to get us started are in my list, along with supplies that support learners. #clearthelist#teachers#literacyandjusticeforall
Here I responded to the argument that teaching young children about the history of racism is going to make White kids feel bad. Thank you @colbertlateshow for having me. #HowToRaiseAnAntiracist
