I have done it! I have won the Global League in F1 Fantasy. I would like to thank @F1 for hosting this game and also everyone who has played this year. It was a great season and I hope more great seasons are to come.
Not going with what I was hoping for entering the weekend but I cannot deny what I am seeing right now. Antonelli is fast. Bortoletto is competitive with the McLarens. Even though I am jumping late and basically just delayed a -10 in Canada to Monaco and lost 150 points.
Everything seems to be going wrong. I built a long term theory on a weaker Mercedes and Antonelli in Monaco. It has backfired. Antonelli clearly will get pole, the only question is if he leads after Lap 1. Also need to rethink my budget transfer.
@devvrat_raval Technically T2 but exactly as pictured. Likely just deciding between HAM and LEC for DRS driver. If somehow Verstappen is fastest I just go RED instead of MER and use Stroll instead of Bearman.
This is where I am at after FP3 for T1 and T2 on left and T3 on right. Unfortunately my prediction on Ferrari and McLaren domination isnβt coming so I am probably taking a -10. However, Bearman has impressed me as someone to run instead of Stroll.
I need to look into the Audi starts more. If they are clearly best of the rest running Bortoletto would be optimal especially in a scenario where they are competitive with McLaren. However, if they just get overtaken off the start and get negative points it is a disaster.
Seeing every fantasy manager talk about going to Ferrari McLaren for Monaco definitely justified my strategy in Canada even though it backfired. Even in a Russell and Antonelli breakeven scenario I would have been satisfied with a 20 point difference between Mercedes and McLaren.
Even though it blew up at least I could see how it could worked in a no DNF scenario where Russell and the McLaren drivers would have finished on pace despite taking inters Lap 1. Being one of the few players who isnβt taking a hit and will have healthy budget gains is good.
@LostSchemes This is entirely dependent on seeding. Briscoe or SVG would be a tough round 1 matchup for example. Then it is entirely possible he has to face Gibbs or Bell on a 1.5 mile track in Round 2. Or it could be he beats Wallace in Round 1 and then faces Ty Dillon who beat Hamlin in R1.
@BoxBoxF1Fantasy The issue though is you could get hit with a DNF if the battery issue happens during the race. It is being an issue due to heat and it happening in CANADA of all tracks is definitely a concern. Red Bull needs to wake up fast so this season doesnβt become a battery lottery.
@F1Fantasy_Eswar I need to gain comfort that the 2nd constructor will have both drivers qualify in the top 10. Then after that I would need to be convinced they are viable in Spain since it would be a transfer nightmare after that.
@F1FantasyEuan I already used it. Also even the team that does have I feel like would be in a situation where both Monaco and Spain would be a Wildcard which is insane.
