@MarkRitchie_II Hi Mark, I am a beginner in trading and have some questions in setting rules (listed below). Can you please shed some light on this topic. Appreciate any input you can share on this topic and it's completely okay if you don't answer all the questions listed, TQVM
@IBDinvestors hello IBD, I noticed the stock screener in IBD Digital shows "The IBD Stock Screener is undergoing an extensive infrastructure upgrade and is temporarily unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience"
May I ask is there an estimated time frame for this?
Thanks!
@MarkRitchie_II TY Mark. May I ask, do u also have a set of what should happen to decide your hold/sell soon after breakout? IYO, whats the lesson that trader must learn to deal with emotion of fear&greed especially most positions come under pressure after BO at the same time?
@MarkRitchie_II@JURAMPIC gt caught at ur last 2 paragrph, didnt gt exposed much although I start seeing handles bc I have a feeling theyll be stopout. However, based on what u shared, the right thought process is to get some exposure due to handles forming, as long my risk is fraction of my avg gains?
@MarkRitchie_II@JURAMPIC hi Mark, by jockey, do u mean sell a portion (even if its a few % gain) n buy another thats breaking out? I believe ur selling portion that allows you to breakeven if it stop you out n do this until fully invested (breakeven if all stop out). Also, is that 25% or 100% capital? TY
@markminervini thank you for sharing Mark. May I ask, precisely about the 1% FTD. is the 1% measured from close of FTD to close of the bottoming bar? n do you apply this technique on index only or can be applied on individual stocks as well? thank you for ur time
@MarkRitchie_II thank u 4 ur words Mark as it tells me do even more of what Im doin. its v impressive n such a role model u attempt 2 help the community, 1 thing 4 sure ill have more questions as Im dissecting ur posts, will try my best 2 phrase them so ur wisdom can be useful to more audience:)
@MarkRitchie_II Hi MR, I study ur tweets n have a question - may I ask how do u keep ur loss at 0.1% or 0.5% for certain trade? I went to measure the point u buy n the lows on daily chart. Tight bars around 2-3% but how u get out with 0.1%? ex. pltr 28may2026, 29may2026. thank u!
@MarkRitchie_II got it, thank you again for your time Mark! appreciate your detailed replies. will put my head back down studying and improving my process. have a good day :)
@MarkRitchie_II thank u 4 ur time Mark. that makes sense now. may I ask, what about d avg win n loss posted in this tweet - https://t.co/GyegGQSpHz
if those are BP, that means 2.79% avg win and 0.4% avg loss? is the 0.4% achieved by many near breakeven trades which then even out to 0.4% on avg?
Forgot I had promised to show this but here's the totals of all the trades of what we call the 'discretionary portfolio trades' for the last 12+ years (started in 2013 when we partnered up). So any trade that didn't have a designated bucket but was something we took (commodities, bonds, crypto, options) went on this spreadsheet. Just over 600 trades, about 50 per year.
@MarkRitchie_II I'm digging to find out how do u have 0.4% avg loss. based on the trades u shared that you enter and exited, a number of them did not rally much (so using profit to finance risk is not possible"?"). and measuring the high (enter trade) vs low they are more than 2-3% usually 🤯hmm
@enter_arc hi may I know if case for nothing phone 3 will be restocked? if yes , what is the estimated timeline?
been wanting to get one and it is out of stock for some time and it mentioned limited edition hence not sure if if will be restocked. thanks
@getpeid for 20 days for example, that 20 day long chain of visualized , will make them feel motivated and they wouldn't want to miss a day because the chain will break. thats how good habits are formed. this will help user to want to build their chain as they feel sense of accomplishment
@markminervini hey mark, I remember you mentioned you're working on a 3rd trading book and expecting to be available 2025? Can you tell us more about it? What is different in the 3rd book than the first two? Thank you
