“He made me a better person. He helped me heal. He helped me care again. I owe that dog my life.” Many thanks to @GregMcQuadeCBS6 for a beautiful segment on losing our beloved ambassador, #germanshepherd Axel. https://t.co/tpISss9dQr

K9 Axel, a German shepherd who traveled the country alongside retired Marine Corps Capt. Jason Haag educating policymakers and the public on the life-changing benefits of psychiatric service dogs for military veterans, died at home Saturday. https://t.co/HX7degVqkc
Haag and Axel helped give voice to a community of veterans who, like him, had nowhere else to turn after exhausting a litany of medications, therapies, and rehab. Axel retired in 2018. “Today, I’m able to go and tell my story without Axel. I can never repay him for that."
Studies continue to show that service dogs can improve #veteran#mentalhealth: “Once they had this dog in their life, they started to improve in every capacity."

A university in the Netherlands studied how service dogs impact symptoms of PTSD in veterans and found what we see everyday here at Leashes of Valor: service dogs improved their lives. https://t.co/kSlj7uQAfa
We recently got the chance to share our mission and the story behind Leashes of Valor with Green Top Outdoors Podcast: https://t.co/QIVcqqDTUU #servicedogs#servicedogssavelives
