Year 5 had a wonderful science lesson today as an introduction to our topic FORCES. Great fun and exploration were had while testing gravity, mass and kinetic energy. @LeasStAndrews
StarLincs Planetarium visited Y5 this week - it was an out of this world experience. We learnt about the planets, moon phases and the stars; tasted space food and created our own moon surfaces from clay. A wonderful day had by all. @LeasStAndrews
In Y5, we have been learning about many of the jobs children our age, and even younger, had to do during the Victorian era. We had to apply our research and reading skills. @LeasStAndrews
Y5, along with some Y6 pupils, thoroughly enjoyed the cross country competition at Caythorpe this morning. Brilliant sportsmanship was shown by all. @LeasStAndrews

We have loved investigating shadows this week. We were investigating whether moving a light source higher from the ground makes an objects shadow longer. Great team work and science skills. @LeasStAndrews
Y5 pupils learnt about some amazing Victorian inventions in our mini museum. What a fantastic way to share extra home learning! The mini models were outstanding. @LeasStAndrews
The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes has been the focus of our English learning this term. The children worked brilliantly in pairs to edit and improve their very own versions of this famous narrative poem. @LeasStAndrews
In Science, Y5 have been learning about reproduction of flowering plants. Using scientific equipment, we dissected some lillies, learnt the scientific name for each part and its function. We were biologists at work. @LeasStAndrews @STEMLearningUK
Y5 have had a fantastic start to the term, particularly learning and developing their mathematical skills through a treasure hunt on the school playground. @LeasStAndrews
Two treats in one week! A lovely ice cream gifted from the wonderful Mrs Wilkins on her retirement after dedicating 28years to our St. Andrew’s family. Then, a fantastic disco where our Yr5s and staff danced the night way! @LeasStAndrews
In DT this term, Y5 have been making something new and innovative by researching sustainability and recycling old plastic bottles. The creations have been so diverse yet so creative. ♻️🌎. @LeasStAndrews
Today in computing, Y5 were learning how to use concept maps to organised and present information. We chose our own favourite topic to learn how to add a node and change the colour, design or font. We are thoroughly enjoying this unit. @LeasStAndrews
Y5 were investigating reversible and irreversible changes in science this week. We loved the chemical reaction that occurred when mixing vinegar and bicarbonate of soda!
