Life has lost value in Manipur.

If the killing of two infants in Tronglaobi at the hands of Kuki militants wasn��t enough,
Manipur Police along with central forces fired tear gas shells near Manipur’s leading children’s hospital yesterday to chase away 100s of mothers on a peaceful rally demanding justice for the deceased.

Inside Mother’s Care Children’s Hospital, were 40 beds, including ICU for infants & newborns fighting for life.

This reckless action could have easily led to more child casualties.

The disregard for vulnerable lives is a humanitarian failure. Those responsible must be held accountable.

This is how Kuki protest scenes are:
You may even see Kuki militants parading openly in the streets with sophisticated guns (Clip 1).

Youths pelt stones (Clip 2), and the SP stationed in the area was reported to be brutally injured, yet both the state forces and the central forces stand still without even using tear gas.

And What was their demand?
Nothing about justice but demanding to remove central forces and opposing the dismantling of illegal bunkers.

But, in the Imphal Valley, when unarmed Meitei women merely go on a peaceful torch rally, demanding justice for the killing of two innocent children in their sleep by Kuki militants, the security forces are ordered (by @AmitShah) to use tear gas, lathi charges, pellet guns, and even live bullets against them.

I am deeply concerned by reports of tear gas being used in the vicinity of hospitals and residential areas, causing distress to ordinary citizens. Such actions must be handled with utmost restraint and sensitivity, and these spaces must remain protected at all times.

At the same time, I appeal to everyone to show calm and compassion. We are all citizens of the same land. Please refrain from violence and pursue only peaceful and democratic means of expression.

Manipur MP Leishemba Sanajaoba raised the issue in Parliament, highlighting Koirengei Airfield's pivotal 1942 role as the third Manipur airfield during WWII's Battle of Imphal, serving Allied supply/defense against Japanese advances and sheltering thousands of Burma border refugees.
