Happy birthday Jack Kerouac. In an old alleyway I saw a shadow slip past, and at my feet I saw scattered across the ground bits of papers that blew around with the wind, an empty bottle of tokay rolls by, and for a moment I hear the mad scribbling of pen on paper.
THE LAST BLACK MAN IN SAN FRANCISCO: A transcendent ride through the Bay City streets, capturing truth with honest beginnings and stylistic penmanship, a deep emotive grasp, it's something new and fresh and not to be forgotten. @LastBlackManSF
LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT: A neo-noir with grit and poetry. The past and present blending into a dreamlike state, memories deteriorating like old buildings and ending with the final climactic masterful lucid dream, like something Max Ophuls would wake up from in a sweat.
KAILI BLUES: Moving and poetic. It's pure cinema, filling the senses with emotive imagery and rhythmic storytelling, giving rise like shadows of flames dancing across walls or light through rushing water, this film places you somewhere almost unexplainable with words.
GOOD MORNING: Ozu's sweet small-town story of gossip in the community, lovers, family, and two boys on strike against their parents; there's a strong sensitivity towards the characters in this delicately filmed masterpiece.
