Sir John Major makes the essential point. Parents who send children to private school save the state money.
Labour’s tax on them has failed. Now the state has 2,000 fewer teachers than when Conservatives left office.
So we will reverse this futile, vindictive policy.
The Sunday Times reports a BA planeload of holidaymakers due to leave T5 at Heathrow for Dalaman, Turkey, were ready to go at 7am Saturday but due to the weather were kept in their seats for a disgusting 8.5hours ( until 3.30pm) having been fed a diet of crisps and water.
The plane appeared to have taxied to a no man’s land where they stayed while the hopeless management decided what to do.
The passengers nightmare wasn’t helped by the fact the first crew ran out of hours and had to be replaced.
The next crew turned up at 2pm but then missed their takeoff slot and BA finally “ free” the holidaymakers who then discovered there wasn’t another Dalaman plane until Tuesday.
Totally unacceptable that the holidaymakers spent 8.5hours trapped in the plane and I want to know why they couldn’t be returned to the terminal.
I suspect because it didn’t suit BA. I hope the passengers sues the arse off them.
I am so sad and shocked that we have lost Sir Alex Younger.
There was no one tougher or more resourceful when it came to frustrating the enemies of this country.
❗️This week, we Conservatives will force a vote in Parliament urging Labour to drop its ban on new Oil and Gas Licenses.
💪 For jobs, for the North East of Scotland, for the UKs economy and for our security, we must Get Britain Drilling again.
I am so disappointed that @BBCRadio2 is not being aloud to expand and have a Radio2 extra where we could bring a unique service to the public. The BBC has a fantastic amount of archive material which this new service would have broadcast as well as music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Kenny Everett shows, Bob Harris with items from The Old Grey Whistle Test and Paul Gambaccini interviews and much more.
This new station would be like no other but because Ofcom has made a ridiculous decision the public will not hear this. I am really annoyed and think this decision is a disgrace and shows how out of touch the authority is. An absolute disgrace.

Benchmark's Head of Battery Raw Materials Adam Webb featured on BBC News last night in their coverage of Ukraine's mineral reserves and the proposed deal between the country and the US.
Ukraine is rich in raw materials, with estimates suggesting its mineral resources are worth more than $11 trillion - this includes #graphite, #lithium, titanium, zirconium and #rareearths.
Despite back-and-forth between world leaders, the challenge of extracting Ukraine's raw materials is vast.
Webb told BBC News: "There needs to be a lot more work to prove those mineral deposits into economic reserves."

When are we Europeans going to stop being scandalised about Donald Trump and start helping him to end this war?
Of course Ukraine didn’t start the war. You might as well say that America attacked Japan at Pearl Harbor.
Of course a country undergoing a violent invasion should not be staging elections. There was no general election in the UK from 1935 to 1945.
Of course Zelenskyy’s ratings are not 4%. They are actually about the same as Trump’s.
Trump’s statements are not intended to be historically accurate but to shock Europeans into action.
In particular the US can see $300bn of frozen Russian assets - mainly in Belgium. That is cash that could and should be used to pay Ukraine and compensate the US for its support.
Why is Europe preventing the unfreezing of Putin’s cash?
The US believes Belgium, France and other countries are blocking. It’s absurd. We need to get serious and fast.

A few thoughts on this Holocaust Memorial Day
My Granny told me that she first realised that something was wrong when someone in her local grocers ordered “A kilo of potatoes, Heil Hitler” and no one laughed.
My Grandpa - a doctor in Berlin - recalled the letter from a patient who said that he hoped Dr Rosenberg would understand that he could no longer be seen coming through the front door of his surgery but he would now come in through the back where he couldn’t be seen. What he didn’t say - of course he didn’t - was that he was quite prepared to allow a Jew to treat him and potentially keep him alive but he was not prepared to put himself out to protect a Jew.
The year was 1933.
Yesterday, I spoke at the @BlavatnikSchool about the urgent need to reduce threats faced by women in politics.
When women are silenced by abuse or intimidation, democracy itself suffers. Action is needed to ensure public life is safe, fair, and inclusive.
Our incredible daughter Liz died in the early hours of this morning. She remained determined to the last. Even yesterday she was still making plans. We are so very proud of the kindness, empathy and courage she has shown in the last year. She was not only a phenomenal photographer, she was the best human, and the most wonderful daughter and big sister we could ever have asked for. No one could have fought harder for life than she did. There is a gaping Liz shaped hole in our lives that I am not sure how we will ever fill. We have so much gratitude to every single one of you, whether you offered to help, or liked or shared posts - you ensured Liz’s last two months were her very best. She flew high until the end.
We have two last favours to ask. Firstly, we would like to ask you to share one of her photos - on your social media, or in real life, however you can. Let’s let her go out with a bang. #LizHatton (photos will follow in a thread but do also feel free to choose your own from @lizhatton_photography on Instagram)
Secondly, if you can we would like you to help us with a mission to raise money to fund research into Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour. With no charity in the UK or internationally funding into effective treatments are lacking. In 2024 a 15% 5 year survival rate is simply not enough. Together we can change that. Whether you can share, donate or raise funds - please be our village one more time. Let’s make this the last item on her bucket list and make sure other families don’t face a similar fate: https://t.co/iSsJO83LLs
Hello @gmcuk.
Your public consultation on your intended regulation of physician associates closed on 9 May.
Why haven’t the results been shared with the public?
Please do so.

🚨 NEW: Rishi Sunak says Labour's claim of a bad inheritance is "ludicrous" having inherited the "second lowest debt in the entire G7"
"These are HER choices. So stop blaming everyone else and take resposbility for them."
