@ukgovbluebelt An absolute tragedy that the Chagos Islands are no longer part of this initiative 🥺 Given away by Labour to a country with one of the worst records for protecting the natural world
@David_Cameron@ukgovbluebelt A great initiative, though so sad this no longer includes the Chagos islands - given away by our current government to be plundered by Mauritius and their associates.
@lfg_uk Did you know England is one of the most densely populated, as well as the most nature depleted places in the world? Bats provide huge economic benefit to farms by feeding on crop pests, and that bat tunnel will last well in to the future supporting them for generations to come.
@Quodvox5@ClarkeMicah@AnthonyGri10669 Undoubtedly a very good beer, Timothy Taylor Landlord is brewed with 3 hop varieties including Styrian Golding hops grown primarily in Slovenia, so for purists, can't therefore be described as an English session beer.
@TonyJuniper Potentially looks great, but in practical terms they'd have to have the solar panels much higher to accommodate combine harvesters. I imagine also the solar panel posts would get in the way of ploughing, sowing, harvesting etc
@FullersBrewery I see you've done away with the organic ingredients in Honey Dew beer yet the price is the same, thus we're still paying an organic premium for a non-organic beer. Will that be changing? #beer#organicbeer#asahi
In yesterday’s debate on the govt’s plans to hand Chagos to Mauritius (& pay them a fortune), I didn’t hear a single Labour backbencher speak in favour.
There are so many reasons why it’s an appalling plan- for our security, our finances, and for the environment.
We are handing one of the most biodiverse and pristine areas with near 100% protection today to a country that ranks amongst the lowest in terms of nature protection and whose politicians have already admitted they will allow industrial fishing to return to 99% of the waters.
This was one of the great environmental successes in my lifetime, and we are simply knocking it on the head - for no obvious reason.
@DaveGoulson Same for us up in Ringmer, once a village, we are on the verge of having 3000 additional homes built all over the greenfields here turning us in to a town with no plans to improve infrastructure.
@tomhfh "Abundance wins" at the expense of biodiversity - over the same period farmland birds such as the Turtle Dove, Tree Sparrow, and Grey Partridge are down by 90%, with Starlings and Corn Buntings down by 80%
I'm calling on the UK Government to stop the proposed changes to Biodiversity Net Gain, which put nature recovery at risk just as the system starts to work.
