500,000 workers take strike action today. They are taking on corporate and government greed and power.
RT if you back every single individual who is on the picket lines today.
#EnoughIsEnough
Tomorrow, I’ll be supporting teachers, civil servants, train drivers and bus drivers on strike.
Brave protests of the past have won the rights we enjoy today.
And they have built the foundations of the labour movement we should all be proud to defend.
@left_Haringey If the scenes and signs outside thousands of schools today are anything to go by, the demo in central London is gonna be GIGANTIC.
A general strike in all but name is coming, be there ....
The community is on the picket line! Phenomenal support for the strike today at schools in Haringey, involving parents, pupils, Labour Party members, other TU members, local cllrs, Acorn members, and of course teachers themselves. We will all win if we stay united!
Amid the worsening housing and cost of living crises, Haringey Council seems determined to snuff out all the hope created by its previous 'Corbynite' leadership. Let's fight to reverse this abject betrayal.
It's disappointing that Cllr Ruth Gordon, who claims to be on the Left, is not be fighting to keep the manifesto commitment of Council houses at council rents. This is an ideological decision of the Right. We need strong Left councillors!
Every child should be able to have a good, healthy meal each day. But that's being denied to millions of hungry children.
My Free School Meals for All Bill would tackle this injustice, as I explained on @GMB today:
"He needs to make stand.. that he supports working peoples efforts to get a better standard of living"
Mick Lynch from the @RMTunion on what Keir Starmer should be doing.
UK spends 4.7% of GDP on state pensions (plus tax relief - 1.4% of GDP): France spends 11.9% of GDP on state pensions.
UK - 15.5% of pensioners are in poverty. In France it's only 4.4%.[Research Briefing, Cleiss].
Another WIN for our members 📯🚩
George and Lawrence had unacceptable treatment from their agency with unannounced visits, leaks and a 20% rent increase!
We decided to drop by the agency today, and won a commitment to give notice, do repairs and cut the rent increase in half 💪
After months of campaigning, most of the planned cuts to London bus routes — including the No. 4 — have now been reversed.
This is a huge victory for local people in Islington and beyond.
Public transport is under threat across the UK. Grassroots resistance is possible!
Tottenham, Wood Green & Stoke Newington today. Great to have Labour members, Party banners, cllrs and @HackneyAbbott with the workers and supporters at CWU pickets! Posties face severe attack from employer and Tories. This solidarity is so important!
[@RMTunion’s Mick Lynch to a Daily Mail journo] “You can call us what you want and no doubt you will call us what you want. And you called Mr Moseley one of the finest things that ever happened as I remember, when you were backing the Blackshirts.” 🔥🔥🔥
Don’t agree with much of Mark Lehain’s prescription for schools here.
But do agree that the threat of an noisy “school cuts” campaign - led by NEU, is why the Govt has put £2bn into schools.

Jeremy Hunt's attempt to justify the last wave of austerity is an insult to all those who lost their lives to 12 years of state-sanctioned cruelty.
Even more insulting is that he expects us to simply lie down and accept it all over again.
He's got another thing coming.
Well attended public meeting called by Haringey Demands Better / Enough is Enough this evening, with inspiring contributions from workers and campaigners. Kevin Courtney (NEU) "Wages being held down isn't the solution to the crisis, it's the cause of the crisis!"
This year, bankers collected the biggest bonuses since the 2008 crash.
Rishi Sunak claims to understand people’s hardships, but his predecessor’s plan to lift the bonus cap remains in place.
1 in 3 children will go hungry this winter, but will nobody think of the bankers?
Drug deaths are at their highest rates since records began - many of these are amongst people who are street homeless.
The solution is not in ever greater criminalisation, but long term care and investment in our most vulnerable.
Me in @HaringeyCP

Liverpool dockers secure a significant victory:
"The determined resolve of our members ... has forced the company to see sense and do the right thing. Make no mistake – Unite will continue to fight for jobs, pay and conditions and defend workers”.
