@JackFritzWIP Statcast shows pitch mix retooling in his future. Somehow doing worse against RH bats, with sweeper and sinker over-reliance that doesn't create whiffs. BTW, his average fastball is 96.5 -- one MPH above league average for RHers. Hitters see 98 every game they play now.
@JackFritzWIP Can we separate his (renewed) ability to SLG this year from his deteriorating athleticism? Negative value as a baserunner AND as a fielder (dead last in range). Biggest personality? Yes to that.
@JackFritzWIP I appreciate the call for patience. When Hamels showed up, he already owned one of MLB's best changeups. Painter is showing the ability to create chase and that's a good thing; but his FB is not the separator we all had hoped for. Maybe more is coming...
@bustNmove I try to listen to the Elia rant at least once per year. It resets things. Think you're having a bad day? Try managing the Cubs and get out of the gate at 5-14. Spoiler: they never hit their stride that year.
In 2019, Harper inked the largest contract in @MLB history. After 2028, he will be the 5th highest paid Phillie. It is one thing to have Trout, Ohtani, and Soto reset the market, and another to make less than Nola and Luzardo. Something has to give. @JackFritzWIP@JoeDeCamara
@JackFritzWIP 15/65, with 25 swipes and plus defense. Makes less than $6M. In other words, a value on a top-heavy roster. Don't need a breakout; I'll settle for consistent ABs and smart swing decisons.
@AfternoonsWIP Mariano had 31 postseason saves recording MORE than 3 outs. He's the gold standard and a unicorn, of course. Maybe the question is how capable is Duran to come in a get a crucial last out to quell an 8th inning rally and still pitch the 9th, especially to close out a series?
@JackFritzWIP@JoeDeCamara Wrote this piece in 2023, delineating the Phillies miserable history in drafting amateur outfielders. Even more timely today, two years later. https://t.co/8JAa372aDL
@JackFritzWIP@JoeGiglioSports
Wrote this two years ago, an indictment on the inability of the Phillies to identify and develop OFers. It has been 27 years since a home-grown OF (Burrell) posted consecutive seasons with 500 AB for the Phils.

@FairmountJack@FranzkeLA Read this affirmation at night, before you go to bed: "I do not like Alec Bohm. He is weak and whiny. I know more than MLB talent evaluators. The Phils will not miss Bohm one bit. He will be easy to replace. Anyone can hit 44 doubles and knock in 10 more runs than Harper. Amen."
@FairmountJack@FranzkeLA Great comparison. One burned and crashed. One just appeared in an All-Star game and posted consecutive 97 RBI seasons. None of those runs knocked in helped his team. Not one of them. I cannot continue this if your replies are this weak. I will write one more post for you...
