covid or not, stay the F home when you're sick! My house was sickness free all summer, 10 days into school already got kids down and out. Also, moms groups are wild, no one wants your covid, rsv, common cold, strep throat , hand foot mouth or lice. Stay home.

@DrVivianS Ugh. Unfortunately, it sounds way too familiar. And it just continues to get worse. All the good and decent staff are leaving. How is this just continuing daily with no recourse... why do people not care 😔

5 months ago, I walked out of my last shift as a PSW in for-profit LTC. Today, I walk back into that same building as a Public Education Coordinator to teach a GPA course. I am unsure how manifesting works , but if this ain't 🤷‍♀️🤗

4 months ago, I left LTC and took on a Lead BSO PSW Activity Coordinator role with a non-profit. I am encouraged to be client focused. My skill set has been appreciated & utilized, & extra training is always offered & encouraged. My back and my mental health have already improved

significantly. Though the change has been amazing, I absolutely miss LTC - the intimacy, the challenge, the privilege. All it would take for me to go back are the simple things I listed above. It's really not that complicated @PaulCalandra @fordnation let PSWs and Nurses do what

@SherylFallon4 to properly care for vulnerable people who often can't communicate their own needs is not always something that can be taught and more something that needs to be found and treated properly.

Facts about LTC in Ontario.
- they are set up like assembly lines of abuse.
- on the very best days, the care is subpar.
- psws provide AM care in 10 minutes or less (this should include waking , washing, tolieting, dressing, hair, oral care & transferring)

- the newest homes are built with 1 shower and bath for 32 residents to share.
- there is minimal activities and activity staff, residents sit for hours alone unstimulated and bored.
- products & supplies from razors, briefs too towels are of poor quality and supply

- resident wait uncomfortable and soiled multiple times a day
- fall risk protocols are implemented, but there is never enough staff to provide the unmet needs of those falling.
- majority of residents have some form of Dementia and staff are rarely properly trained
