Justice Nyaundi has allowed @katibainstitute’s application and confirmed conservatory orders stopping construction of the Ebola quarantine facility. The Court also ordered disclosure of the relevant agreements to the petitioner and the public.
My fellow Kenyans, it is not enough to complain online. These are our courts.
If you have time in the morning, log in. Something about eternal vigilance being the price to be paid for safety from Ebola 😊
Doctors Without Borders are reporting that Ebola is spreading at an unprecedented rate, but Ruto and his goons in uniform would rather teargas and shoot Kenyans that are resisting this biochemical weapon being brought here.
Hell is this country.
@Ademba_47 On impeachment, a motion by more than 2/3ds of lawmakers at the National Assembly has to be passed and then communicated to senate where a special committee is constituted to hear the motion.
But parliament has been captured. impeachment through parliament is unlikely.
@Ndonglaw043 And the worst part is, we cannot tell whether the new orders preventing the establishment of the quarantine facility will hold because this court may yet again apply it’s shadowy standards and lift them with the promise of an explanation in April next year.
To be fair we do not know why the conservatory orders were suspended. What we’ve learned is that standard for stay in cases involving the executive is diametrically different from the one we know, and so maybe in October, the CoA will teach us something new.
I think the planned EBOLA PROGRAM BETWEEN KENYA & THE US is exactly why the Court of Appeal must be criticized for giving a leeway for the the Kenya US Health Data Cooperation Agreement. That was not only a reckless decision. But one that merely assumes government interest equals to Public Interest. The court ignores the components of stay in the Gatirau Munya case & invents their own as did the bench in the Presidential Advisors Ruling ✅️
@Monty_Hasashi Exactly. And despite conservatory orders to prevent any further progression of this agreement, a committee has already been formed to execute it. This is hell.
Apt.
In April we laughed at the 7 Kenyans that came out to protest against the fuel prices. Even then, they were arrested & charged with “obstructing” traffic.
Yesterday, a million+ Arsenal fans brought CBD to standstill for human & vehicle traffic. But that wasn’t obstruction.
In her interview, Hannah Wendot blamed femicide on girls “looking for money” in Airbnbs, yet Ruto gave such an incompetent person the job anyway. Now look at the femicide & child disappearance crisis.
What we obviously need are more “deeply concerned” statements like hers.🚮
