@LeGrandSquire

Hear me out—

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

@OfCrimsonPetals Squaring his shoulders he stared down the man.

“That’s ‘Your Grace’ to you, Monsieur.” The glare that followed was enough to have the man backing from the room and closing the door behind him.

Quickly dressing, he set out for the palace to seek audience with the King.

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

He was relieved to see @OfCrimsonPetals was healing quickly. Despite the yellow and purple bruising on her face and body, she seemed to be feeling better.
Setting the empty bowl of chicken broth aside, he dabbed at her bruised lips gently.

“I’m glad your appetite is back.”~

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

@OfCrimsonPetals “Don’t!” He called to her as she was taken away.

“Don’t say anything!”
The guard that lingered sneered in his direction.

“You may be the Grand Squire, Lorraine, but it won’t stop the King from seeking justice against your mistress. Careful before you make yourself a target.”~

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

@OfCrimsonPetals by his Majesty.”

Louis felt the color drain from his face but he kept his chin high.

“Where are you taking her?”

The answer came in the form of one grunted word.
“Dungeon.”

With a frown he moved to the side to be seen by Julie.

“Don’t fight them. I’ll be right behind you.”

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

@OfCrimsonPetals He could only watch as the men moved to Julie.
If he fought against three, he’d not be around to defend her to the King.

“It’s ok!” he spoke over their shoulders.

“I’m going to his Majesty right now!”

The man closest to Lorraine turned with a sneer.
“We were sent ~

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

@OfCrimsonPetals With wide eyes, he put a finger to his own lips as he rose and moved to the door.

“Opening just a crack to see, he was quickly pushed aside as three of the King’s men entered and moved to the bed.

“You’re under arrest Madame. You must come with us.”

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

@OfCrimsonPetals He sighed as he shook his head.

“No, but I plan to go to him today and not take no for an answer. I will tell him exactly what happened. If I could only speak to him in private, I know he would understand.”

A pounding on the door interrupted his next thoughts.
~

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

on their way from Versailles.

His requests to speak to the King had so far gone unanswered.

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

He smiled and leaned forward to place a soft kiss beside her mouth.

He wouldn’t bother her with upsetting news he’d received regarding possible charges against her. Now was not the time.

Little did he know that the King’s men were already ~

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

He chuckled as he watched her. He had no doubt that she would do a good job but she was too good to be shoveling stables. He would have a talk with Louis.

[𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞 @eblouissantebeu]

Eye roll.

"Fine. Because God forbid, right?"

Shovel shit she shall. These'll be the least shit standing horses in the whole of France.

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

“That might have been funny when we were five and ten. Now, if you want the job, see to it that the King’s horses are not standing in shit.”

[𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞 @eblouissantebeu]

Grin. Forced and obviously so.

"I do not think this shovel is big enough to fit you in it."

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

“No, but she ~can~ shovel shyte.”

He presses a shovel into her hands.

[𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞 @eblouissantebeu]

She cannot be a soldier, nevermind a princess.

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

@OfCrimsonPetals “I told him that he will have to be witness to your injuries. There will have to be an inquiry, I’m sorry.”

He bent to kiss her forehead.
“But nothing will happen tonight, you must rest.”

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

@OfCrimsonPetals the doctor took his leave.
Louis watched him go as he raked a shaky hand over his face. This was both a blessing and a curse.

Regaining his composure, he returned to the room and Julie’s side, forcing a smile.

“We will get through this, thank God you weren’t harmed worse.”

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

@OfCrimsonPetals He listened carefully, nodding at the instructions. He would see that she was well taken care of.

Walking the doctor to the door, he stepped out with him into the hallway to inquire about the gossip.

“I might need you to tell what injuries you’ve seen on Madame.”

Agreeing,~

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

@DucDePhilippe @TheSilkenBlade He held the mare steady for his brother to mount, asked no questions and simply nodded to the Prince as he watched them ride away, he intentionally turned so that he did not see in what direction they were traveling.

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

He could see @DucDePhilippe and @TheSilkenBlade as they headed toward the stables, a determined gate to their steps.
Something was happening.
Looking to a groom, he ordered the Prince’s horse be saddled and one of his own. The mare would be good for his brother.

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

Extra? There are only two. The mare is my horse. I’m giving her to you to use, treat her gently.

[The Chevalier (parody) @TheSilkenBlade]

Whatever. I’ll take it.

Um… what’s the extra horse for?

[Louis de Lorraine @LeGrandSquire]

What? I was being nice, the mare is a good, sturdy and sweet horse

[The Chevalier (parody) @TheSilkenBlade]

@LeGrandSquire @DucDePhilippe >:( I’m not bringing you any gifts when I return.
