Running a small football & horse racing data service is rewarding, but it’s tough—and in the sports data world, it’s a challenge every single day. I pour countless hours into making sure each file, output, and update is spot-on—because I know how important this info is to my subscribers and users.
But it’s not all data and analysis. Let me give you a glimpse behind the scenes 👇

1/ 💻 Late nights & constant updates: From software updates to analysing data trends, I’m constantly working to keep things accurate and up-to-date – usually an 18 hour day at the desk. The constant drive to update and analyse, and sometimes dealing with abusive emails or complaints, even when I’m giving my all. It’s hard not to take it personally, but that’s part of the journey, right?

2/ 📉 Subscription drops & uncertainty: Like many small businesses, my revenue comes from subscriptions. I refuse to splash intrusive adverts over my sites as I know how frustrating they are from personal experience so member funding is the sole income. Lately, though, numbers have been down, and every lost subscriber makes a big difference. That monthly support allows me to keep the service going, and keep it going at the affordable level that it is. There are 2 flourishing telegram rooms you can access as an Annual subscriber, and the member support and feedback is fantastic, continually reiterating that the prices are way too low, but I want to make the data and service as affordable to all as I can and to be able to do that, I rely on the consistent support of you guys. You never know when you might want to use the service, or come back to it so playing a part of the sustainability is massive.

3/ 📬 Emails & Customer Service: Some days (or nights as mentioned before), it’s not just data and site related issues I have to deal with—I also handle abusive emails, constant questions, and troubleshooting issues on my own now. Many of which are already covered on the site. Customer service is essential, but when it’s just me, it can be emotionally draining and detract from other more important site related improvements or issues.

4/ 💸 Taxes & outgoings: People don’t always see the behind-the-scenes costs, but the reality is that taxes, platform fees, software, data feeds, hosting, and everything else really add up. This isn’t just a hobby—it’s my business, and it comes with real overhead. When I started out over 13 years ago it probably was more of a hobby, nothing prepared me for how difficult and challenging it would be simply trying to provide a service to like minded data enthusiasts.

5/ ❤️ Why I keep going: I know my service makes a difference for traders / bettors / data enthusiasts who rely on accurate, trustworthy data. That’s what drives me forward—helping others succeed, learn, and make informed decisions, even on the tough days.
