@Headteacherchat In my 23 years in education I have been sworn at spat at physically assaulted and had things thrown at me threatened and accused of many things. If I had worked in a shop, nhsor any other job there would be a notice on the wall telling people that abuse of staff is not tolerated.

@adamkelwick I truly believe that people should be able to ask questions openly without fear of getting accused of discrimination or racism about a culture or religion they do not understand and the open mosque in this original post was a great example.

@FixingEducation I’m afraid it’s true there are no consequences for poor behaviour in schools anymore any adult trying to make a difference working with children in a school with no consistent consequences is open to abuse and accusations against them from the students and their parents.

Advice and support needed
I left FE teaching in 2022 and I’ve been with agencies since trying to figure out what I want to do I know I want to be a TA and I have tried to settle down in 3 schools now every time I get within a week of contact exchange with the agency the school

@Headteacherchat @PaulGarvey4 I don’t know about head teacher applying for deputy head position however I’m sure it’s the same thing as a 23 year veteran teacher applying for a TA role. I’ve applied for loads of positions since leaving teaching get offered positions only never make it through 6 months probtn

@Julespg I am a teacher with 20+ years experience since May this year I have chosen to work as a TA in schools via agencies so I can find a place where I can settle down and stay this experience has shown me that schools PRUs,APs are all struggling with numbers of children and behaviour

Excited about my new journey starting today in a PRU I’ve left teaching. For a HTLA role, so far love it been here since June but now permanent.

@MissHudsonHist @English91401578 I am a supply TA on a long term contract and I find it really hard whilst I support the teachers on strike however the school SLT ask TAs to take classes my answer so far has been no that’s not what they employed me for.
