@ferllyr@SethMagaziner Both are true:
1. Mental health is important. Congress should improve care.
2. USA doesn't have higher incidence of mental illness than other developed nations which do NOT have our mass shootings problems.
Therefore, mental illness isn't the cause of America's mass shootings.
The U.S. had a program - PREDICT - that identified lethal viruses abroad to prevent their spread to the U.S..
It had found 1,200 viruses (and 160 coronaviruses) in 10 years.
It was actively working in China.
Two months before the Wuhan outbreak, Trump shut the program down.
REMINDER....
Democrats, listen to me. Who cares if the eventual nominee only meets 80 percent — heck, 50.1 percent — of your checklist? Evicting Trump should be the most important item on that checklist. https://t.co/7m2RqUBWhl
.@realDonaldTrump, while you’re busy tweeting insults, we’re busy working to honor our oath of office to protect and defend the constitution and safeguard our democracy. @JoeNeguse
Lindsey Graham OTD in 1998:
“Members of the Senate have said, ‘I understand everything there is about this case and I won’t vote to impeach the president.’ Please allow the facts to do the talking.”
@IanDon@RIDemParty The state party executive director said leaving out "Native Americans" from the list of minorities "was an inadvertent mistake." I'm sure it was. And that was my point! The bylaws amendments were badly drafted. They need work. They were not ripe for passage. WHAT WAS THE RUSH?
@IanDon@RIDemParty They are not forming a new political party. They are staying in the party as the RI Democratic PARTY Women's Caucus. And, separately operating the RI Democratic Women's Caucus PAC -- note the absence of the word Party in the PAC name. Ask @LizGled for confirmation of that.
@JakeBissaillon @MelForRI @steveahlquist@RIDemParty I never said the party doesn't recognize Native Americans. I said Native Americans was left out of the list of named minorites to be state committee members in Art.1.sec.1b. That's inconsistent with DNC Charter. This wasn't about recognition. It was about a seat on the committee
The Rhode Island Democratic State Committee just voted to table an amendment to the bylaws to add "Native Americans" to the list of namesd minorites. One might wonder why? I certainly can't think of a decent reason.
Stacey Abrams: "Let’s be clear: voter suppression is real. From making it harder to register and stay on the rolls to moving and closing polling places to rejecting lawful ballots, we can no longer ignore these threats to democracy." #SOTU
