I always hated how Hollywood is only capable of making two kinds of aliens: snarling, feral monsters or humans with slightly altered proportions and a coat of colored makeup. Which goes to show how afraid they are to take creative risks or pursue genuinely innovative worldbuilding
What I find really compelling about the Birrin Project is that the Birrins are radically different from humans on a morphological level, yet their behavior clearly communicates sapience, culture, and social complexity. You connect with them not because they look familiar or aesthetically pleasing, but because their behavior and psychology reveal meaningful parallels with our own
To me, this is deeper than the shallow appeal of “I like the blue aliens because they look pretty.”
@Wulden83 . . .I’m more than willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. I will probably enjoy it greatly, regardless of issues. At the end of the day, I just game to relax. lol
@Wulden83 As any game does—including its 3 preadecessors—I’m more than willing to give it a shot because my experience with the previous three entries have given the series plenty of goodwill. Prime 1 had its notorious backtracking, 2 was HARD, and 3 had issues of its own. So, for MP4,
If you can, Dude, I encourage you to try *Tears*. It frankly makes BOTW look like a tech demo, and is much more fleshed out. You don't have insta-kill lazer guardians, and now the world is layered: there are tons of caves, the sky islands, the Depths, and the Dungeons are really interesting too. The enviormental storytelling in TOTK is fantastic!
@Wulden83 Yup, and the developers wanted you to do that. XD. The idea was to give players tools to solve puzzles and such how they want to. There's a great Youtube Vid called "Tears of the Kindgom Wants you to Cheat", and it explains this greatly. I should go find it!
@Wulden83 Dude, I do too. I'm so happy to hear that, because I think it's the PERFECT art style for Zelda, like the perfect synthisis of all the other art styles, in great balance.
@Wulden83 Yes. It's actually quite cool, and what I like that Link has abilities that are multi-purposeful on their own, but they can be combined to do even crazier stuff. The physics and chemical engine in TOTK is crazy, and things can get really creative.
I actually don't mind the towers and such, but in BOTW, stuff was very empty in hindsight. Tears fixed that to a huge degree, at least in my eyes. Given that the orignal Zelda was open world, I see why they did with BOTW and Tears what they did, and I commend them for trying. There's always room for refinement.
