https://t.co/3VJV5gK9Ku Research probes into possible da Vinci handicap Maggie Reid 12:00 am, Mar 26, 2007 Along with the help of a former Yale researcher, a longtime admirer of Leonardo da Vinci is trying to challenge commonly accepted beliefs about the life of one of the greatest minds in history. After mistakenly hearing a museum tour guide refer to da Vinci’s left hand as “sinister” — when she actually said “il sinistra,” meaning left-handed — Ben Sweeney became interested in the idea that da Vinci may have had a misshapen left hand, a theory that he said has been overlooked for 500 years by the art world. Sweeney, a real estate broker in San Diego, started researching da Vinci’s sketches, paintings and mathematical formulas, questioning accepted knowledge about da Vinci that he feels is not held up by factual analysis.“I’m coming into the Leonardo world as an outsider,” Sweeney said. “Many people in academia run the risk of getting locked into their ideas and stuck in their own perspective. I don’t come in with anything preconceived.”Although Sweeney’s research runs the gamut on da Vinci — including art, science and math — his study on da Vinci’s anomalous left hand has been the subject of most interest. Through analysis of different da Vinci sketches, Sweeney developed the idea that the third and fourth fingers of da Vinci’s left hand were connected. This condition is called syndactyly, in which two or more digits are fused together.Sweeney said that art historians have noticed issues with da Vinci’s hand in his sketches before, but it was always written off as the result of a stroke da Vinci had late in life. But Sweeney took his theory to Joseph Upton ’66, a former Yale-New Haven Hospital surgeon who researched at the University, who agreed that it appears to be a syndactyly hand.Upton, a current Harvard Medical School professor, said that although the theory may not be able to be verified — proof would involve an X-ray — he does believe Sweeney’s conclusion that the anomalies in Da Vinci’s work are not simply a result of a stroke. The theory also looks at the depiction of Jesus’ left hand in “The Last Supper” and “Madonna with the Yarn-Winder.” Jesus’ left hand is misshapen in both of these paintings, Sweeney said. In “Madonna with the Yarn-Winder,” the disfiguration was discovered through the use of infrared technology, Sweeney said, and adds to his theory that da Vinci had some sort of obsession or preoccupation with syndactyly hands.“Whenever the art world came across a misfigured hand, they considered it a mistake,” Sweeney said. “In my opinion, da Vinci didn’t make mistakes. He’s definitely portraying syndactyly hands.”Robert Goldwyn, a professor of surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, said Sweeney is probably on the right track about da Vinci’s hand. The theory is interesting because Sweeney is looking at da Vinci in a way that nobody has in the last 500 years, Goldwyn said, most likely because of Sweeney’s unique position outside the field of academia. But while some scientific experts agree with Sweeney’s theory, the art world is less open to the idea. Some art historians have said that until conclusive evidence can be found, they see no reason to believe that da Vinci had an anomalous left hand.“One art historian told me he never wanted to see me again after hearing my theory,” Sweeney said. “The art world wants to assume beauty over truth, and Leonardo knew that. He understood our mental state, even 500 years ago.”With the help of experts such as Upton — who he is collaborating with on four different anatomical studies — Sweeney is working on about 40 different studies ranging from an examination of da Vinci’s health to the development of a mathematical form with which to study da Vinci art from a mathematical perspective. One of his most recent projects was the creation of a robot that da Vinci had created full plans for in his notes, Sweeney said. The “lost robot” has been traveling the country on tour and is currently on exhibit at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma.Sweeney said that he hopes the research will culminate with a book written at about the fifth grade reading level. Getting the information out is a slow process because data can be misconstrued if its not presented clearly enough, he said, but he expects the results to make an impression on the art community.“This is going to be the control-alt-delete of the art world,” Sweeney said. “There will be a concordance of his work, but this is really just the beginning.”Yale Daily News@HarmeetKDhillon@Pontifex@LeonardosHands

Justine’s right—calling opposition to 9/11 celebrations and attacks on Jewish kids “radical” is pure Alinsky: control the dictionary so decency looks extreme. Trump’s the rare one who just ridicules the redefinition instead of playing along. Same trick (Bill Clinton used) as lowering crime stats by redefining crime.

During her adolescence, Sabrina Gonzalez Pasterski constructed a functioning aircraft from an assembly kit and piloted the vehicle independently by the age of sixteen. Today, the prominent theoretical physicist, frequently compared to Albert Einstein by academic peers, conducts research aimed at uncovering the fundamental mathematical structure governing the cosmos. She currently serves as a faculty member at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Ontario, Canada, where she manages the Celestial Holography Initiative.

Her primary research focuses on quantum gravity, a profound challenge in modern physics centered on reconciling Albert Einstein's general relativity, which explains macro-scale gravity, space, and time, with quantum mechanics, which dictates the behavior of subatomic particles. Within this domain, she has formulated a novel structural framework designed to describe the essential physics of our universe.

This model, known as celestial holography, maps bulk gravitational interactions onto a lower-dimensional boundary. The paradigm conceptualizes the universe similarly to a standard hologram, suggesting that four-dimensional spacetime phenomena can be mathematically encoded on a vast, distant spherical boundary encompassing the cosmos, mirroring the way a flat surface stores a three-dimensional visual image. Pasterski notes that the highly specialized nature of this advanced framework limits meaningful discussion of her research to a few thousand experts globally.

Her path to high-energy physics deviated significantly from traditional academic trajectories. After completing her experimental aircraft construction as a teenager, she attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating in 2013 with the highest achievable grade point average in the physics department. She subsequently pursued graduate studies at Harvard University, earning a doctorate in 2019.

During her doctoral work, she co-discovered a novel manifestation of infrared physics known as the spin memory effect. This phenomenon represents a permanent, physical distortion or angular momentum imprint left behind in the fabric of spacetime after the passage of gravitational waves. While these concepts currently remain entirely theoretical, they establish a foundational roadmap for ongoing investigations into quantum gravity.

Remember the way the Lord thy God led thee
Ben Sweeney, October 2026

I call to mind the covenant
thou madest in the stall
when the young were brought forth
and the cold seized every wall.

But thou didst lose them in thy liberty,
and now thou needest Him, thou’rt wild.
Blessed is the remembrance
of everybody’s child.

Now thou hast set thy face
to follow the rising light;
thy chains are far too heavy
for the waters of the night.

Blessed is the remembrance
of everybody’s child.

this shortened hymn carries the spirit of Deuteronomy 8:2, 11, 14

bought this rare camera obscura photograph at local antique store.. Likely only photo of Leonardo Da Vinci and Lisa... with the famous Mona Lisa Painting..still haven't found another..absolute gem of an antique store find! A camera obscura photo from 1504? Leonardo and Lisa just casually posing together like it's no big deal. The way she's giving that subtle Mona smirk while he's rocking the wizard beard and hat — pure Renaissance vibes.

Brian Stelter crouched in the bushes outside Hannity’s wedding, binoculars up. He hadn’t been invited, so he peeped through the hedges instead, scribbling names off the guest list. A branch cracked. He froze, then whispered, “Just media analysis,” before crawling back to his car with leaves in his hair.

From the Broken Hill
bjs oct 24 2026

If it be your will
that I speak no more,
I will wait in silence
till you open the door.

If it be your will
that the Son go down
to the place of the dead
where the captives are bound.

Call them out of the dark,
break the night apart,
bring them into the light—
if it be your will.

Show mercy to the broken,
the ones who burn below.
Draw them near and heal them
and never let them go.

Raise the dead to life
in the living Christ—
if it be your will.

Isis to Osiris

I love you as you love me, brother-king,
My little heart yearns across the Nile’s dark ring.
Do not unto others what Set has done to you
[Nor scatter any soul as yours was strewn].
Alone I walk the black earth—what shall I do?
My heart ticks restless, searching every reed for you.
I love you as you are, reassembled and true,
My little heart, I yearn for you.

Title: Isis Weeps the Nile
Ben Sweeney · Oct 23, 2026

Through the underworld hour
Black and bleak
Osiris torn, too much sorrow
And flesh is weak

No more feelings
No more tears
The Nile runs wide enough
From Isis’s mourning through the years

Silver lips, magic borrowed
Glances steal
Too quick, how the pieces quiver
Too late, they’re sealed

No more feelings
No more tears
The Nile runs wide enough
From Isis’s mourning through the years
