@GeromanAT The dude hasn’t recognized the concept that static defenses only work when there’s sufficient amount of troops to fill them.
Otherwise, these are expensive decorations.
@failure1991 There’s another thing. The AFU is advancing on the Eastern banks of Oskol and Seversky Donets rivers, on the relatively narrow 40 km-wide sector, with river crossings under constant observation.
It looks more like Gigakrynki, not like an operational success
@pmakela1@VorgBeob Respectfully, but what does it even have to do with the original topic?
You: The future of the Russian tank fleet will be...
Me: The evidence and the general approach are weak
You: But the APS doesn't work, the Ukrainians told me that!
@pmakela1@VorgBeob This is exactly the problem I'm highlighting above. The “I don't see it, therefore it doesn't exist” approach is counterproductive and kind of a weak basis on which to build any conclusions.
The same applies to broad generalizations based on a visual evidence” approach.
This time, Warsight takes an in-depth look at the ASCOD Hunter from GDELS Santa Bárbara Sistemas, on order for the Latvian National Armed Forces.
Alongside a rundown of Hunter, we examine the wider ASCOD family's evolution and future.

@RWApodcast@failure1991 As a side note: despite the popular opinion about the Western ISTAR dominance, the Ukrainian hit a dorm with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan workers.
@haylen630 Thing is that the AFU lost important positions on both directions where T-72B3A were deployed. One (maybe two) tank platoon made it possible to move through the AFU positions over 12 km - Shahovo to Torskoye and reach outskirts of Dobropolye and Annovka.
@VorgBeob That is a bold take, to say the least, from the guys who once wrote that Russia’s VKS is finished and that its MIC cannot produce aircraft because of sanctions, only to miraculously revert to the view that in 2026 the VKS poses a greater danger to NATO than it did in 2022.
@RadarFennec A strategic deep battle must produce consistent effects on the targets you need to degrade or destroy, not merely sporadic effects on whatever you can reach.
@RadarFennec The author uses terms like “strategic” and “deep battle” despite the fact that what Ukraine is doing is neither “strategic” nor “deep” on the most basic conceptual level.
@Volke__ Not really. What the available Ukrainian footage definitely shows is that some fiber-optic drones were able to reach several tanks.
No clear results have been shown. More importantly, nothing is known about the outcome of the assault.
