I love Cinema, it can condemn something intellectually while worshipping it aesthetically.
And aesthetics usually win.
Big respect to Aline Brosh McKenna and Lauren Weisberger for such a gorgeous screenplay ๐ซก
Iโm going to watch The Devil Wears Prada 2 at the cinema tomorrow, so I just rewatched The Devil Wears Prada (2006).
And something struck me.
The film is clearly trying to expose the narcissism, status obsession, and emotional vampirism of high fashionโฆ
โฆbut it accidentally makes the whole world look O so seductive, worthy of a.. Devil.
Miranda Priestly is penned in the screenplay by
Aline Brosh McKenna and Lauren Weisberger like a warning, but we turned her into a role model.
That inversion is not accidental ๐งต
If you make the devil disciplined with a win streak, you are no longer warning the audience about its evils, you are casting her to star in a blockbuster.
And us audience, God bless our little consumer souls, often buy tickets to temptation before we buy tickets to virtue.
I finally got the fucker, I can see it and I have control over it, tries to weasel out but I finally got the fucker.
Whenever stiffness hits while Iโm writing I go and see it, itโs still there because I locked it in a box. Stiffness is mine.
