We are the Less Survivable Cancers Taskforce, made up of: @ActionHeartburn, @BrainTumourOrg @GutsCharityUK, @LiverTrust, @Roy_Castle_Lung and @PancreaticCanUK.
Right now, 7 in 10 people with pancreatic cancer are told there is no treatment available for them. Their chance of survival is taken away.
This is unacceptable.

We ask the next Welsh Government to take urgent action and commit to a specific focus on improving outcomes and doubling survival rates for the less survivable cancers.
We’re calling on the next Scottish Government to close the deadly cancer gap. Less survivable cancers account for 1 in 4 diagnoses in Scotland, but average 5-year survival is just 16%. It’s time to improve outcomes, address research gaps and prioritise early diagnosis for LSCs.
The Rare Cancers Act 2026 received Royal Assent on Friday - a major milestone for people affected by less survivable cancers. The Taskforce will continue working with government and partners across the UK to ensure this Act delivers real change.

We're delighted to see the early diagnosis of lung and oesophageal cancers prioritised as part of the National Cancer Plan.
Late diagnosis is a big factor in making these cancers 'less survivable', so it's extremely positive to see this as a focus.
