@briscoe_les @Beganovic2024 Natural daylight doesn't prevent that from happening.
Exterior places should be lit adequately , appropriately, and responsibly, not excessively.
@briscoe_les @Beganovic2024 People, plants , animals, insects all need darkness.
The city can light responsibly and enforce lighting ordinances.
It isn't necessary to light exterior spaces to daylight and beyond 24/7.
@briscoe_les @Beganovic2024 I have, and a few other alders, but people like you who don't have to live with the light, dont care about all the people who are NOT criminals living with the consequences of excessive lights and 24hr daylight.
@briscoe_les @Beganovic2024 Like in Clayton or Ladue with strict light ordinances?
Basketball courts get Dark Sky friendly lighting, but city residents have to live with past daylight levels of light from dusk to dawn?
or are only some laws worth following?
@briscoe_les @Beganovic2024 Coming from someone that probably doesn't live near an excessively lit building or parking lot and has to live with it.
Parking lots are supposed to keep the light to a minimum, only on their property and off when not in use. No lights are needed if there is enough street light.
@Beganovic2024 Too bad St Louis didn't work with DarkSky org or the Sierra Club, or the AMA to install adequate and appropriate lighting instead of this excessively lit waste of taxpayer money.

Residents of St Louis get daylight or past daylight levels of lighting overnight "for safety".
While Clayton enact pretty strict light pollution controls for the safety and comfort of people.
Just put up better curtains if all the bright overnight lights bother you or move. @MonicaObradovic is what
@archstl@Schweitzer88@ButzSteve
told me when I was no longer able to sleep from St Stephen Protomartyr's excessive lights.

@JohnnyGarciaSTL The light pollution from the neighboring parking lots ans businesses are awful.
If only there were ordinances enforced that minimize the light on parking lots in St Louis and it be off when not in use.
Call @AmerenCorp and request a shield to keep the light out of your home and the put a shield up.
Ask @STLCityGov to enforce light ordinances and they say fuck you, you don't have the right to sleep. @MonicaObradovic

Thanks to @STLCityGov refusal to enforce #lightpollution ordinances & use street lights that emit daylight levels of light, #StLouis doesn't get to enjoy the #Draconids
How long did it take Ameren to install shields?
They told me 7-10 business days.
THE NEXT DAY!!!!
Ameren installed shields today!!!!
I called them yesterday.
Street light was upgraded. Called @AmerenIllinois to request shields on 2 fixtures with 1 short phone call.
These fixtures are 3000k= moonlight, while in #StLouisCity there's no easy way to make a shield request and the lights are at 4000k = daylight.
