Thank you to @BruceLesley at @First_Focus for this insightful piece on the Trump Admin's latest attack on birthright citizenship.
"Apply the One Question — “is it good for the children?” — and the first executive order fails immediately, on its own terms."
[2] Since 2003, Congress has funded this legal representation for children through decades of bipartisan agreement. Tell your members of Congress to act NOW to protect #UnaccompaniedChildren ➡️ https://t.co/PGTANmrXw6.
[1] Every child deserves to have a trusted adult in their corner to help keep them safe. But the Trump Administration is working to take lawyers away from over 20,000 children, to make it easier to deport them and return them to harm.
[2] #UnaccompaniedChildren face complex legal proceedings in a language they may not speak, a system they do not understand, against attorneys whose full-time job is to remove them. Tell your members of Congress to act now ➡️ https://t.co/PGTANmrXw6
[1] Right now, tens of thousands of unaccompanied immigrant children — some too young to speak for themselves — are at risk of being deported without a fair chance to defend themselves.
[2] Tens of thousands of immigrant children will now face this reality. Tell your members of Congress to act now to protect #UnaccompaniedChildren ➡️ https://t.co/PGTANmrXw6
[1] Picture a child. Maybe eight years old, maybe younger, sitting alone in an immigration courtroom. They don’t have a lawyer, but the government does. No one is by their side to explain to them what is happening or what is at stake.
[2] Congress should demand a full accounting of the billions already appropriated for detention expansion, move toward ending the detention of children and families, and call on the administration to shut down Dilley and release families while their immigration cases proceed!
[1] Conditions reported at Dilley raise serious concerns about the safety & well-being of children: unsafe drinking water, poor-quality food, delayed or denied medical care, limited access to education and play & more.

[1] Congress needs to act immediately to protect TPS holders & their families from the devastating consequences of detention, deportation, and family separation. The impacts are likely to affect an est. 400,000 children of TPS eligible parents–with over a 1/4 of children under 5.
[2] Ask Congress to pass the American Dream and Promise Act to provide a path to citizenship for TPS recipients and Dreamers, allowing families to stay together and protect essential healthcare, homecare, and childcare workers in our communities.
[2] Congress has the opportunity to protect families and children by providing a pathway to citizenship for undocumented youth, DACA recipients, and TPS holders.
Send a letter to Members of Congress: https://t.co/QKnDFsrGET.
[1] The Trump Administration has created a nationwide crisis for children by un-documenting, arresting, detaining, and deporting their parents, and ongoing attacks on TPS and DACA have created instability for families. This discharge petition can change that.
[2] Without protection, unaccompanied children could be deported back to the very violence, trafficking, and danger they fled. Tell Congress to protect kids ➡️ https://t.co/PGTANmrXw6.
[1] Every child deserves someone in their corner. The Trump administration has withheld $65 million owed to children's lawyers — and their contract expires July 31. Tens of thousands of children will be left to face immigration court alone.

@WendyDC5 on public charge rule: When parents fear that seeking health care, nutrition assistance, or other supports could jeopardize their family’s future, many simply go without. That means children don't get what they need to grow, learn, and thrive.

[1] Immigration policies that kill parents & breadwinners are failed policies. Congress must defund ICE and get their agents out of our communities.
#AllChildrenBelong#ICEOut
[1] The government is trying to detain and deport kids and families more quickly. Elected leaders must keep America’s promise and protect these children.
