"If I get the chance, I will go back to South Africa"— Ghanaian Returnee Says Life Was Better in South Africa and Would Leave Ghana Again if Given the Opportunity
A Ghanaian returnee from South Africa, Akwasi Addo, has said he would return to South Africa if given the opportunity, citing difficult economic conditions in Ghana. Speaking during an interview on Kessben Drive, he expressed frustration with the challenges many people face in meeting their daily needs.
Addo told host Fante Quoo that the economic hardship in Ghana had become overwhelming. He said life and business opportunities were more favourable during his time in South Africa than what he is currently experiencing in Ghana. His comments were made during an interview broadcast by Kessben Media.
“The economic hardship in Ghana is too much. If I get the chance, I will fly back to South Africa,” Addo said. He compared the economic opportunities available in South Africa with those in Ghana and said the difference influenced his desire to return if another opportunity arose.
His remarks reflect concerns raised by some Ghanaians seeking better economic opportunities abroad as living costs and employment challenges continue to affect many households. Addo’s comments have added to ongoing discussions about migration and economic conditions facing citizens in Ghana.
