The problem is not Sol Ruca. The problem is NXT’s incredibly flawed system that doesn’t properly prepare the ground up PC-trained people to be main roster wrestlers that work a road schedule and have to work matches often on short notice and don’t get a ton of rehearsal time.

It’s the problem with a developmental show having to also be a television program. Shawn and co are having to teach, while having their students do what’s needed to entertain and sustain a TV product, which repeatedly puts them in position to do things they shouldn’t be doing at their stage of development, and this creates the habit of memorizing complicated matches.

You don’t get the space and time to memorize things when you’re on RAW/SD though. You get to tv and find out your match hours ahead of the show and walk through it with an agent and are expected to execute because you’re expected to know how to work. To know how to work, you have to have reps. These Nxt wrestlers wrestle 20-40 times a year. Comparatively, the OVW/FCW generation would wrestle four times as much a year. Reps are irreplaceable.
