The Australian Dream has turned into a nightmare.

Each government makes policies they say will ‘solve the crisis’.

But with each passing decade the problem exacerbates.

To the point that it now takes half a lifetime just to save a deposit.

And another half to pay back the loan.

If it’s true that you judge a man by his actions and not his words, then it becomes clear that the government doesn’t actually want you to own a home.

They distract you with their war of words – battling about whether the issue is demand or supply.

The truth is that it’s both.

Markets aren’t complicated.

But they want to keep you at war over the solution so they can continue squeezing the middle class into oblivion.

They politicised a purely economic issue.

And you took the bait.

And now the idea that sits at the core of our nation – that owning a home can lead to a better life – really has become a dream.

Something for young people to fantasise about as they scroll through the real estate apps.

Maybe if they hit it big on OnlyFans the dream will come true.

But for most people the reality is that they’ll pay half their salary to a private equity firm to live in a build-to-rent dog box 15kms from the city.

And this outcome isn’t accidental.

Because behind the veneer of empathy, politicians on both sides only want the ponzi scheme to pump.

Because people who own a home are financially secure, less dependent on government, harder to manipulate and bully.

They want a weak and vulnerable population who’s too worried about paying bills and taxes to notice the sleigh of hand that’s stripping their wealth and freedoms.

So if you think your vote will get you closer to home ownership, you’re mistaken.

The writing’s on the wall.
