I’m currently writing this from hospital after recently being admitted with a collapsed lung, which my medical team found was caused by complications from my dialysis treatment.
I’m 27 years old, and I’ve been dealing with kidney problems since I was 15. Over the years my kidney function gradually declined, and in December 2025 my kidneys finally failed, meaning I had to start dialysis.
I am currently on peritoneal dialysis (PD), which means every single day I spend around 8 hours connected to a dialysis machine at home to do the job that my kidneys can no longer do themselves.
The last couple of years have been particularly difficult. Even before my kidneys failed completely, my health was deteriorating and it was having a huge impact on my life both physically and mentally. My energy levels are extremely low most of the time, and there are days when even simple everyday tasks can feel exhausting. Eventually, I had to move back home so I could focus on managing my health and recovery.

A kidney transplant would give me the opportunity to get my life back on track. While I’m currently on the deceased donor waiting list, a kidney from a living donor is generally considered the best transplant option, especially for someone my age.
Living donor kidneys often start working more quickly after transplant, tend to function better, and typically last longer than kidneys from deceased donors. They also allow the transplant to be planned in advance rather than waiting for a suitable organ to become available. The average wait for a deceased donor kidney is currently over two years, and for someone who already spends 8 hours every day on dialysis, reducing that waiting time could make an enormous difference.
As I’m only 27, finding a living donor could potentially give me many more years of improved health, independence, and freedom from the daily restrictions that kidney failure and dialysis bring. More than anything, it would give me the chance to move forward with my life again.
Because of that, I’m asking for your help.
If you would like to find out more & apply for becoming a living kidney donor for me, Liam Harrington Duncan, please email:

I completely understand that donating a kidney is a huge decision and not something everyone can do. Even if it’s not something you can consider yourself, simply sharing this post could help it reach someone who can.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey ❤️
