𝗠𝗔𝗧 𝗛𝗨𝗗𝗦𝗢𝗡 | 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗔𝗬 𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗 🧤

Less than four years ago, Mat Hudson was out of full-time football and working in a primary school following his departure from Preston North End.

Since signing for Oldham Athletic in December 2022, the Southport-born shot-stopper has enjoyed an incredible rise back into the spotlight.

After helping the Latics secure promotion back to the Football League following a three-year hiatus, Hudson has just enjoyed the best season of his career to date, winning the EFL League Two Golden Glove award and earning a place in the EFL League Two Team of the Season.

𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻 | 𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟴 - 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

LFE is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Middlesbrough Academy graduate Anthony Renton.

A promising young defender during his time at the North East club, Anthony was diagnosed with leukaemia shortly after signing his first professional contract in 2017.

Despite the many hardships he faced in his battle with the disease, Anthony’s positivity throughout was an inspiration to everyone connected with the club and beyond.

In his later years, Anthony spent much of his time coaching—at times with Middlesbrough’s Academy—helping to develop and inspire the next generation.

He passed away peacefully over the weekend, aged 27.

The thoughts of everyone at LFE are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.
