According C Dweck, ppl are driven by either performance or learning goals. With performance goals, people are motivated to show they have a valued attribute, like intelligence or leadership. When learning goals dominate, they are motivated to develop the attribute. (post 1/2)

As a mother, this mindset can be tough. Sometimes itโs just easier to โtake care of itโ, right?
But as an educator, I know that accountability is fostered by learning from mistakes. Letting them โfail safelyโ leads to more growth and maturity in the long run.
Start from what the child DOES know and move along the expected continuum of learning progression to develop new skill application. Positive acknowledgment of what a child CAN DO is key!
