The glass is stopping a large amount of beta particles detectable by this probe too!

@paulrob86 My larger 16" scope have a fully automated tracking mount for deep sky objects 👍 but it's a plan to set up because it weights 110kg 😅

I have yes. I use the DSLR when taking photos of deep sky objects mainly, but for the moon I find this method 90% as good, and nice and easy to do.

@ian_leeman As for the performance, the 16" mirror is going to collect 78% more light than the 12", so it will of course give a brighter view of the more faint deep sky targets.
M42 from a light polluted Sheffield sky is really impressive with a scope like this when compared to my 10".

@under_a_banyan She's great. Very docile. Open the lid and she'll happily walk out onto your hand and wonder around casually...a little rare for a A. geniculata! They're normally a bit fiesty.
