LGCEA is the leading voice for local government compliance and enforcement, commonly referred to as bylaw enforcement across the province of British Columbia.
LCEA is sharing its Top 10 calls for service in 2026.
Our members focus on maintaining safe and livable communities for those who live, work, learn, and play in their communities.
The following calls are shared to provide education on what is not a bylaw matter.
In 2024 and 2025, members with the @CityofPG conducted overnight patrols as part of a joint-force fire prevention program.
Due to the success of the program, the City seeks to pilot the program again. Public safety is top of mind, and our members contribute to it everyday.
On May 20, 2026, two @CityofSurrey members were recognized for their quick actions. Adam Brink and Taran Bains administered Naloxone and life-saving first aid to someone experiencing a medical emergency.
We thank them for their professionalism and commitment to public safety.
Being a responsible pet owner has its perks! #WestVan bylaw officers will be handing out dog treats in parks this summer to reward responsible dog owners. Three lucky winners who get a “golden biscuit” will also receive a free 2027 dog licence. Learn more: https://t.co/brD2yDT9QS
Today is McHappy Day. McHappy Day is McDonald’s largest charity initiative where a portion of the proceeds are donated to children’s charities and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Representing the profession is LGCEA President Steffan Zamzow, greeting every guest with a smile.
On April 21, 2026, a @cityofkamloops member was threatened by a man with a knife. The man charged at the officer, but the officer removed the knife from the situation.
He was later arrested and charged by RCMP. We’re grateful our member was unharmed.

(2) This award recognizes Briscoe for her courage and selfless commitment to the well-being of others, her exemplary service, and professional excellence.
(1) @ChrisWalkerCBC interviewed LGCEA Officer of the Year recipient and @TheCityofTrail Bylaw Enforcement Officer Bobbie Briscoe.
What started as an average day for Briscoe conducting routine patrols throughout Trail turned into a high pressure situation as a 16 year old girl's life hanged in the balance. Briscoe found a girl overdosing on fentanyl. She administered naloxone and life saving first-aid.
Briscoe remained calm, cool, and collected, maintaining control of the situation.

LGCEA 2026 has concluded. Our members and partners from @mleoaOntario return to their home jurisdictions with an array of useful knowledge.
Topics include but are not limited to customer service, conflict de-escalation, case law, warrants, AI, adjudication, and mental health.
The LGCEA is happy to announce the start of LGCEA 2026 in the City of Nanaimo.
The focus is on sharing knowledge, building connections, and professional growth. Ensuring our members have current information is essential for them to carry out their duties effectively and safely.
The @cityofkelowna is exploring a tiered-policing model. Tiered-policing is an excellent model that has been used successfully in jurisdictions across Canada.
We support this. It will allow our Kelowna members to further address public safety matters.

The @CityofPG has approved changes to their Parks and Open Spaces Bylaw.
These changes implement stricter rules and will allow the municipality and our members to better manage local unhoused populations while increasing safety.
