NO he won’t be “out in just over 20 years” - that’s the minimum term before he can apply for parole
N0 he didn’t get a lighter sentence because of the knife - he has deliberately cut out the bit that says he got a LONGER sentence
If he was still a solicitor he’d get struck off
Over the last few days, Hezbollah said it hit a Merkava tank and clashed with Israeli troops in several towns near Nabatiyeh and the strategic castle. On Saturday, Hezbollah fired salvos of rockets into northern Israel, including Kiryat Shmona, the largest town in the area 🧵
The Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has accused Israel of a "scorched-earth policy and collective punishment" in the south of the country. French President Emmanuel Macron has called for a UN Sec Council meeting saying ‘Nothing justifies the major escalation currently under way in southern Lebanon’ 🧵
The seizing of Lebanon’s Beaufort Castle by Israeli troops is much more than the capture of one of the country’s most well known historic landmarks. It was first taken by the Israeli military in 1982, held for 18 years, and withdrawn from in 2000. Now that it’s again under Israeli control is tragically symbolic for many Lebanese - and the Israeli PM is making it clear here he intends to hold onto this Leb territory and go further 🧵
The difference between Lebanon and Gaza is that International press has access to Lebanon. And they are showing for all the world to see that Israel is bombing civilian targets where there is no military in sight.
These are war crimes.
Israel has invaded 40% of Lebanon and is busy destroying every single building.
But there are no sanctions for Israel, they won't even suspend free trade with them.
They just pretend to be against it while doing nothing.
There is a repeated pattern of medics and first responders in Lebanon being targeted as they attend the aftermath of Israeli attacks - documented by @MaucourantNada and the National, multiple other orgs like @hrw and us at @SkyNews See our latest report on Sky News YouTube https://t.co/RvO7gLxb6C
I didn’t vote for either of the winners of the last two General Elections but “traitors” for whom a “reckoning is coming”? Really? This very excitable, angry & hyperbolic man should be nowhere near a position of responsibility in a political party that aspires to power.
This week alone:
DOJ opens an investigation into the woman Trump raped.
The White House is caught steering a $620 million contract to Don Jr.’s firm.
The Pentagon hands out a $10 billion contract after Trump buys stock in the company.
Foreign governments are caught funneling hundreds of millions into a random JPMorgan account tied to Trump’s “Board of Peace” with no oversight.
It’s just Thursday.
The corruption isn’t hidden anymore. It’s happening out in the open.
📢 🇱🇧 Yesterday, Lebanese authorities denounced Israeli strikes near UNESCO-protected heritage sites in south Lebanon, including Beaufort Castle (Qalaat al-Shaqif), one of the best-preserved Crusader-era fortress in the Near East.
As Israel's attack intensify in the South, concerns are mounting over this site. Find out more about it.👇 https://t.co/FZ7kUYtANn
Leadership means drawing a line. When a councillor displays a swastika tattoo, the response should be immediate and decisive. Cllr Brown chose not to act — and then doubled down with an excuse that insults the people of Barnsley. This isn’t going away. It damages trust and shames our borough. Barnsley deserves better standards than this.
ACLED recorded an increase in Israeli drone strikes in south Lebanon by 110% in the four days up to May 26 (with at least 242 strikes) compared to the 4-day period before that. Hezbollah retaliated with about 30 attacks against Israeli troops in the same period (ACLED: Armed Conflict Location & Event Data).
Cllr Higginbottom set out clearly why Barnsley Labour can’t support Cllr Brown’s appointment as Leader. When a Reform UK councillor displays a swastika tattoo — covered or not — leadership means taking firm action. Instead, Cllr Brown doubled down with an excuse that insults the people of Barnsley. This won’t go away. It shames our borough. Leadership is responsibility — Cllr Brown must act.
