We don’t tend to appreciate Garrett Whitlock enough, so just some quick notes on him:
0.52 ERA/2.24 FIP since he came off the IL on June 9th. He’s allowed only 1 ER over that stretch. Hasn’t walked a single batter. Wild.
1.58 ERA/1.97 FIP dating back to June 2025. 79.2 IP.
2024:
Craig Breslow takes over.
Red Sox have the #1 ranked farm system.
Casas, Story, and Devers are the infield of the future.
2026:
Trevor Story is the only “everyday” infielder.
Red Sox have the #13 ranked farm system.
And only one playoff win.
I know they won’t do it, but is there any support for Rafael Devers at first base and letting Masataka Yoshida out of prison to DH if the injury to Triston Casas is significant…
